Pt Transfer Question - Will I Ever Get This Right?

I know I've asked this question before and thought I knew the answer, but just wanted to check here again.

I want to be able to transfer my June, 2005 points to another member (or sell a reservation) to use the money for the cruise. Do I have to wait until June 1st to transfer these points to another's account? I just talked to MS and they tell me YES, I have to wait until the points are "active" on June 1st to be able to transfer them to another member.

Is this correct?

I am wondering because I see ads on the rent/trade board for another contract with June 2005 points and they are trying to do a transfer now.

I realize I can make a reservation for someone, but really was hoping to just transfer them and be done with it. Do I have to wait until June?

Hoping someone can confirm that they've done this before their use year started and that MS was incorrect.

I was the transferee in a transfer in Dec., 12 months before my ressie. I was able to make the ressie at the 11 month window at the points home resort. I did have to explain it to the CM. She had to check with her supervisor and then it was ok'ed.

I just had points transferred from another member's Dec 05 use year to my October 05 use year. I think the transfer of points is one of the hardest things to understand and apparently all of the CMs don't understand it the same either.

Thanks so much. I'm glad to hear from you that it has actually happened before the UY started. I know I've read before about the points retaining (supposedly) their original use year and couldn't understand why these points wouldn't be transferrable now (since they can be used for a ressie now). I feel more comfortable posting on the rent/trade board with these verifications.

Guess I'll just have to escalate to a supervisor when the time comes if I get any flack.
