PSP or Nintendo DS

As a 26 year old man I say the........DS!!!!

The PSP is a waste of time, space, money and pretty much everything else I can think of.

THE DS has far more games(which are far superior) The PSP's games are rehashes of PS2 games and look great graphically but play poorly.
Not to mention DS games have NO load time...no waiting to play. PSP games take on average about 10 minutes to load between every screen((It's a slight exageration, but honestly it takes a few minutes to laod all the time...go to a local gamestop and ask to try it you'll see.))

THE PSP MP3 music feature is worthless. it's way to bulk to carry around just to listen to music on.

To watch TVIO shows and or video's you have to get special compression sofware to make much of it work.((MORE $$$$)))

Th Save PSP game syou need to buy a SONY MEmory stick DUO((Which cost WAY to much))

And the PSP battery life runs out pretty much at the end of a movie and they you have to recharge.

The DS on the other hand had none of these problema dn the battery life is way longer!

I already mentioned the games..and the DS LITE's screens are just a nice as those on the psp.

Only DS downside...is you get the LITE it's only in WHITE...this can get dirty fast!

BUT DS ALL THE WAY!!! LONG LIVE MARIO!!!!

I was going to post and say you took the words out of my mouth until I realised it was you!

Everyone, please welcome my DH to the boards! It's been a long time coming! :teeth:

I have a PSP.... Most games are not so good. Nice for watching movies. I also have the NEW DS Lite. No movies, but the games I have seen and / or played... WAY BETTER.

I would go DS "Lite".

Though I don't know much about PSP, my DS has the DS and he absolutely loves it. Right now, he love sthe game Sims 2.

For the PSP, why get a movie and watch it on a tiny little screen?

I vote for the DS lite - I just recently bought one for myself and sometimes I even let my kids play it.. :)

I love my PSP for watching my shows off of the TiVo on the go.

Can you explain how this works? I too am trying to decide between the PSP and DS. I tend to prefer Sony products over nintendo (originally had a Sega, then a PS, now a PS2). They seem to be better technology over all IMHO.
ETA: never mind. I found later in the thread

Perfect for in the car or an airplane ride, otherwise, I agree.

I was going to ask this same question a few days ago!

Then I went to target and lo and behold the distributers for both systems were stocking the shelves.

So I started asking questions.

The big thing that stood out to me is that PSP is going to stop making the movies for the system. People are not buying them, therefore there is no demand for the supply.

You can purchase a hard drive for the DS Lite that will allow you to download movies you already have.

You should have seen the look on the faces of the two distributers when they asked me who would be using the unit and I said it was for me. Yes, I'm female and 40!

The Nintendo dude said that they have come out with more games recently that target my age group. I want Mario Bros, Harry Potter, as well as the logic games.

Both distributers laughed at me. :confused3 :teeth:

You need to get extra computer software to do that. 1) it cost a little bit more. 2) You need to have some technical know how to do it.

AS for Sony having better tech over all....
While Sony is "cutting Edge" they have never and will never care about the consumer. Once that 60 day warrenty runs out your out of luck on most of their products.

But to go slightly off topic....THE PS3 will be a WASTE of Money! $6o0 for the system alone, and already Son't " high tech" Blue Ray is pretty much dead in the water with the constant delays of thier players. HD DVD is gonna win out.

THE Nintendo Wii arleady has consumers, and retails abuzz!! a New way to play games!!!!

Now don't get me wrong I like "some" Sony games...they just aren't taking the market in the right place.

Nintendo is pushing us into FUN, and Inovation terriroty.

But as for Tivo and Pod cast, ect. on a psp you gotta get special software to run on your comp.

Great minds think alike. As for better tech, this is the first time they have ever had the more powerful system. PS PS2 have all been weaker, and still win. Actually that was the case with Nintendo too. When they got more powerful, they lost out rofl. So by this logic the Wii will win. I can't wait for Red Steel, Day of Crisis, MP3, and Zelda. And of course MARIIIIIOOOOO!

You know we have to get friend codes now don't you, lol.

I just got a Lite, so I need to reconfigure my settings.

Sad thing is I'm stuck on dial up!! :(

for what ever reason I can't get DSL...but my buddie a street over can! So i play over there when ever I get a chance....PM me sometime and well try to log on and play or something.((and trade friend codes))

While I agree with SOME of what you say, I think you are being WAY too hard on Sony. I am a 44 year old guy who still games. I owned the original Pong, many Atari systems, colecovision, intellevision, NES, SNES, gamecube, PSP, PS1, PS2, DS Lite..... and a computer gaming geek. All to say I have seen it all, played it all.... oh, and XBOX too!

You make a blanket statement like the PSP3 will fail, and I have to wonder about your motivation. The number of companys backing Blue Ray is just as big as those backing HD DVD. When the $600 PS3 comes out in about 4 months, it will only be SLIGHTLY more expensive than a stand alone HD DVD player, but will play DVDs, and pretty much any older Playstation game. It will support HDMI, the highest consumer picture quality out there.

The Wii, will have FAR inferior graphic capabilities to the PS3. But that is OK, because it will be HALF the cost of the PS3. And it will NOT play ANY DVD at all. Still, I admit, the Wii is quite an interesting idea. But Nintendo, unless it can remake its image entirely, is thought of, rightfully so, to date, as the system for "little kids".

I admit that Sony STINKS as far as customer service. I used to work in retail electronics selling Sony. If you tell me that Nintendo is great at CS, well, I have to agree because I have no idea since I never needed service from Nintendo.

Sony has an intalled base of PS users OVER 10 million, and I think closer to 20 million worldwide. Those people are going to choose a PS3 for the backward compatibility of thousand of PS games on the market.... I would think.

And what is "the right place", exactly?

Are you saying the Wii is more powerful? I am not sure what you mean. If it IS what you mean, your are incredibly wrong. The Wii will be very cool, but still be in 3rd place after Sony and Microsft in "power".

If I am not understanding you, please explain.

One of the things I love about the PS2 is that it plays all the PS1 games, my dvd, and cds. Another thing to note is that the price on the PS3 will probably drop after it's been out for 6 months or a year (it happened with the XBox 360, XBox, & PS2). I'll admit one of problems with nintendo's stuff that I don't have microsoft & sony is you can't do anything but play games on them. If a game cube could handle the media a PS2 can I would consider switching.

P.S.: Does the Xbox 360 play HD DVDs?

I have a DS and DH has a PSP. He is considering selling his PSP b/c he doesn't really play it anymore. Something to keep in mind, the UMD movies for the PSP cost the same as DVDs, and the PSP games cost the same as regular PS2 games. DH has 1 movie, and watching it on the PSP is the pits! Unless you have headphones, you can't hear the audio. DH spends more time playing my DS. I can't remember the last time he dusted off the PSP. When the DS first came out, there weren't that many games, but during our last trip to Best Buy, DH commented on how many games for the DS there were now...

I'd like to upgrade to a DS lite, b/c mine is the 1st gen. version, but that's not so important.

Get a DS...
