I was at MK for a few hours today. I left and got back to the parking lot (Guest Parking) about 2:15.

Seemed unusual as I noticed the car diagonally behind me seemed to have lights on. Went closer and found not only were lights on, but so was the engine, the car was unlocked, and nobody was there. My first thought was why would there be a Bait Car in the MK Guest lot.

However, saw it had Maryland tags. It appeared to be a new Chevy crossover SUV. So I ended up calling Security.

They sent out two cars, opened the car to check for bodies, and turned off the engine. Filled in a bunch of paperwork and left a note, on red paper, visible in the windshield for the Guest to go to Lost & Found to claim their keys.

I wonder will they first panic when they realize they don't have the keys or when they get to the car and can't get in.

So make sure you are not in such a hurry to get to the Park that you forget to shut off the engine, take out the keys, and lock the car.

What is a bait car?

Opened to check for bodies!.....I am trying to picture some drug deal gone bad where the thugs calmly drive into the MK, paying for parking, and leaving the bodies there for Disney security to deal with.;)

Thats's creepy wierd, but maybe it has a remote start that was accidentally tripped. Have you seen the tv commercial for the Chevy Cruze when the guy calls his wife who's boarding a plane to unlock and start the car? It works through onStar I think.

We did this last year at Hollywood Studios!:confused3 We were so excited to get going and the tram was there so we jumped out of our car and went to get on the tram. Fortunately I had forgot something so when I asked my husband for the keys to go back and get and he couldn't find them we figured it out.:rotfl2:

My mom's friend (86 y.o) did that. She shouldn't be driving, but that's another story.:sad2: She went to visit my mom and left the car running for almost 4 hours. She has AAA, but refused to call them. My mom had to ask one of her neighbors (locksmith) to fix the problem for her friend. :sad2:

I almost did that! We parked at AK and the car that parked right next to me was a large pickup. I was afraid we would both open our doors at the same time so I hurried up and got out. My friend said, is the car still running? It was! Yikes!

What is a bait car?

A bait car is a car that police leave unlocked sometimes with keys in it hoping a car thief will take the "bait" and steal the car. The car is controlled by computers and is rigged with cameras. When the police are ready they use the computer to shut down the engine and lock the doors so the thief can't take off. The thief is then arrested and put where they belong!
