PS TR and PJ ~ Holly and Ty WP/AAP/UK 12/4/07 Updated 8/6

Rose was rather anxious to get in and talk with me, so Marion left in the middle of the session and Rose came in. She is a very perky woman. She started going a hundred miles a minute with everything. She first asked me my height, which I can only guess that it was to figure the size of my bouquet. We then started to talk about flowers. I really want a deep purple rose bouquet, but I told here I didn’t think they existed. She looked at me, and said I was right. So I showed her the sterling roses I wanted for my bouquet, and the groom’s boutonniere. She also asked if I wanted crystals, and I said absolutely. My bouquet will also have 12 clear crystals and 4 hidden mickey’s for the date of the wedding (12/4 and she came up with that idea). Also, I will have my bouquet ¾ wrapped in purple fabric. For everybody else’s roses I chose a champagne rose. My MOH and the BM will have theirs wrapped in champagne fabric, while the rest of my families boutonnières/corsages won’t be wrapped. The alter arrangements are going to be lots of floating candles, rose petals, and candelabras on the side. She asked if I was doing the Unity Candle ceremony. I told her yes, and she asked if I had a stand yet. I told her no, and she said that I could just borrow hers. We moved onto the reception. Rose went out and picked up a pile of fabric that looked bigger than her. I ended up choosing a relatively new gold fabric, which will be floor length. I will also have gold charger plates (unless the price is too expensive), chivari chairs, and a gold candelabras on the tables. I am not doing floral arrangements at the center of the table. Rather, we are putting a purple rose in the napkins. The center of the table will have a gold candelabra, with the center candle instead of a floral arrangement, and candles and ivy around it. I am trying to keep it really simple. Rose said she just did a wedding very similar to what I am doing, and is going to send me a picture of it as soon as she can. Finally, we had the dessert party. I had told her the theme I wanted was Beauty and the Beast, but simple. I wanted emphasis on the single rose. To keep with the theme she brought out a glass and suggested to fill it with water and have a single rose floating at the top. She also suggested placing a LED light underneath it. I requested a purple LED light. She said it sometimes doesn’t come out well, but would look into it. We are also having four tables (assuming they are cocktail type tables) with black linens. Rose asked if I was doing the MK photo shoot, which I am. I told her that I had already booked it. She started to tell me that she would take my bouquet almost immediately after the ceremony for it to be refreshed for the photo shoot. She didn’t ask if I wanted it, just told me that they would do it. If it wasn’t for you girls, I would have never known that this was an option that you had to pay for. As Marion said, Disney gives you nothing for free. How true that is!

Up Next Food Tasting…..Yum!

My table linens. Somewhat decieving because the pattern doesn't show up that bold in person.

Similar candleabras to mine, but mine are gold and have no floral arrangements

Um, is that a Princess Bride "Death Cannot Stop True Love" shirt you're wearing in that pic with Marion? Where did you find that?? I must have it!!

That it is. I bought it at Hot Topic a couple of years ago. They did a series of Princess Bride t-shirts, but don't think they have them anymore.

Rats, I missed that. :guilty: Hot Topic also had a resurgence of Labyrinth a few months ago, another one of my childhood faves (the holy trinity was Princess Bride, Labyrinth, and Neverending Story) and I bought some postcards to mount/frame/sit on my desk for months and months until I decide what to do with them. ;)

Great shirt! Oh, and great trip report too. :goodvibes

Is that Rosie you are with in that picture? Rosie as in the floral lady? Wow-- its good to put a face with a name and voice.

Love your report so far. I love the gold linens... and the candelabra. Your entire thing sounds great. I like the simplicity that you are keeping it with the single rose!

Great TR! I love it :) Cant wait to hear more about your wedding planning.

HI holly- i think I might i missed something, you said that if you want to schedule the RD at WC, you can only do it a month in advance?

I ask because I am having a hard time accomodating all the family at Ohana's so I'm thinking we might be able to change it to WC?

Sorry to confuse you Abby. What I meant was that the wedding rehearsal, NOT dinner, can only be scheduled a month before the wedding. The WC is like most of the other Disney restaurants and can be booked 180 days out.

Maggie ~ I was slightly confused when meeting Rose. I had heard about Rosie all over these boards. She came in and introduced herself as Rose, and had Rose on her nametag and business card. I am assuming it is THE ROSIE, but am not 100% sure.

We had a little time between the planning session and the food tasting, so we made a mad dash to the hotel and to MK. We bought the Million Dreams ears for my nephews, and had their names put on them. (My mom, miss thrifty, made us do this mad dash to save $6 on the embroidery. Apparently it is cheaper in MK than in DTD.)
Anyways, back to Franck’s we go to meet with Marion again. She drove us over to Epcot to meet with catering. We got to drive backstage. I have been backstage at Epcot before, but for my mom this was a new experience. She was pretty amazed at it all. Well, we walked into the kitchen, and had two of the Epcot catering staff join us. I think one was a chef and the other was coordinator of sorts. They started to bring out the food. First they brought out the appetizers. I had requested hummus, flatbread pulled pork bbq, and the chicken skewers. I was up in the air on which I really wanted. The first appetizer was hummus. They added a little tomato flavor to it, and it was fantastic.

DisneyTrip033.jpg

They told me that they would serve it with the regular hummus, and I think a garlic hummus as well. Next I tried the chicken skewers with the mango salsa. I tried the chicken by itself which was ok. I really didn’t like the mango salsa. They told me that they could change the sauce to a teriyaki if I wanted. I tried the pulled pork and it was pretty good. I decided to stick with the pulled pork and not with the chicken. I might still remove that too depending on the BEO.

DisneyTrip034.jpg

I will also be having shrimp cocktail and the cheese and bread spread for the pre-reception. Next up was the soups. I had two soups down to try: Canadian Cheddar Cheese and Italian Wedding. The Italian came first. It wasn’t the typical Italian Wedding soup you would get, but still good. The Canadian Cheddar Cheese soup was next, and that was really good. Taste wise I would prefer to have the Cheddar Cheese, but it was rather heavy. I went with the Italian Wedding instead. I was looking forward to the salads, which were coming up next. I put down the Caesar salad, and requested that they make a salad with Fuji Apples and Spinach. They brought out the Fuji Apple and Spinach salad first. It had balsamic vinaigrette dressing and blue cheese crumbles on top.

DisneyTrip035.jpg

OMG this was the best salad ever. The mix of the sweet apples with the sour dressing, and the slightly salty cheese was fabulous. I tried the Caesar next, but there was really no need. The Caesar was good, but it was something that you can get almost anywhere. Next up was the main courses. I requested the Filet Mignon, and to try it with the red wine sauce and the maple bbq glaze (which is how they serve it a Le Cellier). I tried a little of the bbq, which they put in a side cup; and it was a normal bbq sauce. I asked the chef how they serve it. They would cook the Filet with the sauce then add sauce on top of it. It was way too much for the Filet. The red wine was light and really brought out the taste of the filet. They also served it with mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes rocked. Next was another special request, Chicken Cordon Bleu.

DisneyTrip037.jpg

They made it in a rather interesting way. The ham was cut up into small pieces and added to a cheese sauce. The outside of the chicken also had some seasonings on it (a mix of Italian and something else I think). It was pretty good. I will admit I have had better, but I liked the variation that they did. They had a chicken broth on the side for it, and that was gross. He told me I could change it to a cheese sauce, so I did. They served it with rice pilaf. The rice was ok, but the mashed potatoes were far better. We had now finished. We all went over what I had chosen again to make sure everything was correct. They also asked on the presentation of the pulled pork and how I wanted the filet cooked. I also asked about having rock candy stirs for coffee and such instead of just packets of sugar. The chef went and got one of the stirs that they had to show me.

DisneyTrip038.jpg

He told me that they normally come with a coffee upgrade package with other stuff to add to coffees, teas, etc. It is normally $3-4 per person. Since I only wanted the stirs, he priced it at $1 per person. He also said that would include some chocolates. We were finished with the food tasting, and Marion took us to view the Parlor. Finally, we headed back to Franck’s.

Up next…Randy, rain, broken pirates, and going home.

Holly that food looks delicious!mmmmmmmmmmm

BTW, thanks for answering my question. you didn't confuse me! I just wanted to make sure I understood correctly.

Alright, I realized that I have an incredibly long TR here so I will try to keep this last part short. After the planning session, my mom and I snuck around the wedding pavilion before meeting Randy.

DisneyTrip044.jpg

We headed over to the GF early because it was about to downpour. YAY! I finally got to meet the famous Randy. He is super nice. He noticed a bride waiting for the carriage. We stepped outside and saw her in the carriage. Here is a photo of what they do if you have Cindy’s Carriage in the rain.

DisneyTrip046.jpg

After meeting Randy, I had to take my mom to the airport. I dropped her off, and headed straight to the MK for my last night. I really wanted to ride Pirates again. I got in line, and I was almost to the front when it broke down:sad: . We had to leave, but they gave us a fastpass to any ride we wanted. They gave me two, and I ended up giving them away. I made it over to Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor. It was pretty cute. I think it would have been a lot more fun with more people. When I got out of that, Wishes was going on. I watched that and waited for the crowd to clear before heading to the hotel.

Leaving the Kingdom

The next morning, I had Jill from Chocolate Traditions meet me at my hotel. I bought some apples that they do to sample them. They were delicious and my coworkers were very grateful to be test subjects. I finished packing, and headed to the airport. My flight was late because of the afternoon storms. I barely made my connecting flight. I was running thru Atlanta, and made it in time for the final boarding call. So now I’m back. DF keeps saying the next time I go to Disney I will be bringing home a husband. I guess dreams really do come true there. :cloud9:

aww-- such a great trip report!! We are glad to have you back! its true-- your next trip you will be down there getting married... and we will all be here sitting on our computers very very jealous!! Congrats-- glad things turned out well!

awe, I'm sorry you didn't get to do pirates. Make sure you ride it twice next time you go.

Wonderful trip report, loved it!

Right now I am working on menu cards. I really want them, but I want to make them. I am just trying to get ideas at the moment. I am kinda thinking of having a gold sheet with a rose on it and a vellum sheet overtop with the menu. Can anybody help me out with ideas?

I also thought I would add some of my fav pictures of DF and I.
