Just wondering when those of you with preschoolers book your dinner PS's? DD will be 4 and I am wondering what time to make dinner PS. Want to come back to hotel for afternoon swim/nap and possibly do some activity after dinner (Park or fireworks, etc.) (That's assuming the parks will be open late...we'll be there "around" Memorial Day weekend..so I'm assuming they'll stay open later.)

Do you think a PS around 5 is a good idea?

I found that it was hard to get back to the parks for our 6pm PS's from our afternoon nap/swim time. You'd need to be ready to go around 4pm to leave time for taking the bus and then walking to your restaurant (like at Epcot that is a long walk!). I kept having to call and move them to a later time. However 5 pm is a good time to have a PS - you'll probably have little wait to get a table and be out and touring the park while most folks are eating.

Will your 4 year old really nap? I couldn't hardly get my 20 month old to nap he was so wound up! :earboy2: I generally make PS's around 5:45 to 6:30 pm.

"Will your 4 year old really nap?"

Ha! Well, one can hope! :worship: No, she may not nap, but I insist she at least rest. We do this at home and she's pretty good about it as long as she knows what's expected, etc. Of course, WDW will probably be a different story!

All the guidebooks say take an afternoon nap!!!!!!! How do you do that if they WON'T nap?!!

DD4 hasn't taken naps since she was a tiny infant. BUT... she has always gone to sleep between 7:30 and 8:00. This didn't even change while we were at Disney last May. She was asleep in the stroller by 8 or 8:30 no matter what! She even stayed asleep during the fireworks. I'd say make PS for 6:00. That gives just a bit more time to rest and relax mid-day and will give you plenty of time to eat before the firework shows. Most will be at 9 during the time you are going.

We made our ps's for 7:30-7:45. We are keeping ds (19 months) on our time zone (pacific) so it will be about 4:30 our time when we arrive for our ps. We figure that by the time we are actually seated and have our food it will be about 8:15 pm/5:15 our time.

For dinner, as close to 6pm as available. As suggested, you must allow for travel time. If you have a car, no problem; otherwise cabs make resort to resort commuting easy.

Although we have always tried to nap our Little Delegation, none of them ever have when away from the embassy. Still, and dip in the pool or a quick bath before dinner, helps minimize melt-downs later.

My DD3 would also not nap, but just a break from the crowds and energy of WDW did a lot to help her relax. We went for a swim, watched a bit of TV and/or read, then went back to the world (we stayed offsite). Our PS at Chef Mickey's was at 6 PM, and we had no problem getting there in plenty of time. However, it was a Friday night and the wait was LONG - especially for hungry kids. Next time - I'm making them for 7 or so.
