PS reviews from our trip

This is a part from my trip report on another board. Thought I'd pass it along here, too.

We had at least one PS a day. A few worth mentioning –
Cinderella’s Gala Feast at the GF, 1900 Park Fare is always worth the money to me. Love that strawberry soup! Always a fantastic buffet. Characters were great, wow that Prince sure was charming! Talk about handsome! Goofy was in the lobby with the Fairy Godmother and was a hoot! And the look on my youngest’s face when Cinderella was talking to her. Wow... they only have that wonder for such a short time. My oldest at six has already lost it. It goes by too fast!

Wonderland Tea Party at the GF was a huge hit with the girls! One of the CMs had a little bit of attitude with me when I mentioned to her someone had told me my daughter had a special seat set aside for her due to her food allergies. She actually told me – WHATEVER… Made my blood boil for sure! Sure enough, we got in and my daughter was seated next to Alice with all her food wrapped up for her. They loved it! I think this was their fav part of the trip. Worth every penny! DH and I ate at the Grand Floridian Café while they were at the Tea Party. Weren’t impressed. Never of us liked our entrée, but the crab cakes and desserts were good.

Donald’s Breakfastosaurus at AK was a bust. I had read bad reviews before, but it was one of the few character meals we had yet to try out. Just as the reviews mentioned, we were rushed, rushed, rushed. A matter of fact, when Mickey came to our table a CM asked us to be standing up and ready for a pic before he even came over. He was with us for less than half a sec, I barely got my camera in focus! On a more positive note, the chef was accommodating with the food allergies and brought my daughter out a nice plate with fresh fruit, etc.

Other PSs were at Sci-Fi, Garden Grill and 50’s Prime Time. They all went well and were enjoyable as always. Any questions please ask!

Ditto on the bad experience at Donald's. BTDT...never again!

Glad the rest turned out well...the Princess Tea sounds so neat...too bad my boys would NEVER go for that!

when Mickey came to our table a CM asked us to be standing up and ready for a pic before he even came over. He was with us for less than half a sec, I barely got my camera in focus!

We had almost exactly the same experience! Mickey tried to just pass us by with a wave but we managed to get him to come over for a quick picture. Also, our server talked very loudly about himself and his "career" to everyone in the room and was very obnoxious.
I was so disappointed in this meal. Last year, it was a totally different thing. Great food, even better character interaction. I won't be booking this one again.

We also tried Donald's last June and found it very disappointing. The layout for the hot food was so bad that the lines went on forever. After the first stop at the hot food we had to settle for the cold side.
Never do this one again!!!!!

i'm glad to hear the Cinderella’s Gala Feast was good. we have PS for the first night we get there. dd 4 is a huge princess fan!

Thanks for the reviews - so sorry about your poor Donald's experience. We actually really enjoy Donald's & always have some great character interaction there. I think maybe one of the keys is the time of year we're there - we've always gone in more of a slow season - Sept, Jan, early Dec, etc. We'll be booking it again this Sept. Thanks again for the reviews!

Thanks for your reviews. That CM at the tea party should be counseled . My DF has a 3 yr old with severe peanut allergies and I know how serious a food allergy can be. I think most people don't have a clue how devastating and life threatening food allergys can be. Donalds seems like its in need of major rehab.

It was a peanut allergy with my daughter, too. I think we've chatted before about this? I know there are several on here who have kids with peanut allergies.
I called and left a couple messages for the Tea Party, finally I called back a third time and actually got hold of a person. I was nervous about the tea party, but my daughter wanted to do it so badly and I wasn't sure if I should keep the PS. I was told the tea party had become peanut free because so many kids have the allergy. They were very brief with me, but I considered this great news.
A few days before we left another person called and was extremely friendly. Again told me it was now peanut free.
Got there and a nice person by the name of Bobbi told me they had a special seat set aside for my daughter and her little sis. (It ended up next to Alice.) Her food was also wrapped and labeled with her name. When I mentioned to another CM that my daughter had a special seat set aside I was told she had big time attitude with me and told me WHATEVER... I can assure you my temper raised high. It was all I could do to enjoy my meal with hubby at the GF Cafe. The experience was so fab for the kids so I'm trying to forget that that woman was so rude.
For those worried, they also provide beepers.
They loved it so much, I might look into the pirate cruise for a future trip. If it is now peanut free, too I'll sign them up.

I wish they'd make all the kid programs peanut free. I know WDW now serves all their PB&J in those enclosed sandwiches. It would be nice for my daughter to be able to go to one of the programs at night while hubby and I had dinner...

Sharon I think peanut free childrens programs is a good idea. Although my children don't have allergies, my DF's do and I know how scary it is for her. I just think the general public doesn't appreciate how serious these allergies are. Children die each year from them.

Yes, unfortunately lots of people associate food allergies (esp. in kids) with them being a picky eater or not "liking" certain foods. I really think everyone in the food service industry should have a mandatory class on food allergies. I have a nut allergy and so many times servers don't know (or don't care) if there are nuts in the food (or, if they can't see them, they "aren't there").

I will complement Starbucks in this regard. Whenever I ask the contents of a mufin, for example, they pull out a little book and check the ingredients.

Adult here with severe food allergies and I have to say for the most part everyone is really great. But I have gotten the "whatever" treatment times too. There's always a lump of dirt in among the many diamonds there. Out of 12 meals on our last trip, I only had 2 duds. Everyone else was fantastic.

yes, I agree WDW as a whole is fab about food allergies, more so than anywhere else we might vacation at. (But, we always go to WDW!)

I can say the chefs were very understanding more times on all our trips than not. Just a heads up, though -
Although, Boma's chef was very nice, my daughter still broke out in hives there. I love AKL, but I doubt we'll ever eat there again. I think they have just too many nut times there.

Has anyone done the Disney cruises that had allergies? I've heard they're good, too, but wow it seems scary to be on a boat! We really want to do the cruise in the next couple years.
