Hi,
Just another ps question from me :) When you ring up to make a ps, is it common to be put on hold for long periods? As I will be ringing from Aus, I was just wondering how quick the process is. Also, do you get given a time or do I need to pick a time that suits my itinerary? I am arriving on 30th Oct, how soon should I make my ps's? Do they give you a reciept number or something to show when you get there?

With a ps, how long generally would a wait be when you arrive at the restaraunt?

Thanks everyone very much. Love Aussiedaisy

If you call in the early morning you can be on hold for a LONG time. If you aren't making reservations for CRT I would try to call during FL early evening hours and I have always gotten right thru. (Push 1 and then 1 so you don't have to go thru the rest of the phone prompts)

The process is pretty quick... I changed 3 PS and made another in about 5 minutes. You should make PS as soon as you know exactly what you want to do and when you want to do it (but no sooner than 90 days out for most PS). You can request a time and they will tell you what they have available that is close. You will get a confirmation number to write down.

Wait at the resturaunt depends on how busy they are. Could be awhile and sometimes no wait at all.

1) Time kept on hold depends on when you call. I tried calling yesterday afternoon around 4 pm (EST) and was on hold for at least 10 minutes before I hung up. I tried again today around 1 pm and didn't have to wait at all. I called again today around 3 pm and only waited for 1 minute. So I would suggest calling during the "work" day here in the US, when people may not be home and not thinking about making PS. Evenings are the worst time, I believe.

2) You can ask for times or specify a time. I did both -- specify a time for some ressies, and asked for information for others. Questions asked were: What's the latest Crystal Palace takes PS (10:30 am). What's the earliest for lunch PS? (11:30 am) What times are available around 11:30 am (CM gave me a list of times). They are very helpful; don't fret! But basically, they will ask YOU for your preference. The only times they will not honor that is when your requested PS time is not available.

3) For most restaurants, you can call to arrange PS 90 days before your trip begins. If you are going in October, that is not necessarily a busy time, so you may not need to call exactly 90 days in advance. And if you're not picky about the restaurant, you can even request a PS at your resort each morning.

4) They will give you a confirmation number for each PS you make. It is recommended that you take this confirmation number with you to the restaurant, in case of a mix-up.

5) Wait time depends on crowd. If the crowds from the earlier seating are not leaving as quickly as anticipated, then you will wait longer. For instance, at Biergarten at Epcot, even with a PS, some people have waited more than 1/2 hour since the band was playing and people just stayed to watch the band perform. As a result, crowds got backed up. This is why it's better to ask for one of the first PS of the meal (before the crowds), or one of the later ones (after crowds have dissipated).

Wait times are longer on the phone right now for a couple reasons. 1 - We're coming up on Spring Break and the Celebration in May. So, more people are trying to make reservations, PS, etc. Also, now that they are offering the DDE card to AP holders for a deal and all, tons of calls are flooding in for that. I've never experienced wait times on my calls like they are having right now.

You are allowed to choose a time and are given a time in a way. You tell them a time you want, and they will tell you what is available close to it. Sometimes you get just what you want, sometimes it's a little different, sometimes it's booked. You will be given a confirmation number that you take with you, although in my experience you just tell them your name at the restaurant anyway. Once you check in, the wait is pretty short. I think the longest we waited for a PS was 15 minutes...and this was Christmas week when all restaurants were packed with loads of folks waiting.

You can make a PS 90 days prior to the day that you will be there. You should have an approximate time for your meal when you call. If you go to allearsnet.com you can get restaurant hours as well as all the menues.

Have a wonderful trip!
