Having only been to WDW in Sept, Oct, Dec, should we try to plan out our dining and make PS for all or most of our meals the week of Aug 14-21. In the past, my wife & I have made PS for everything 90 days in advance, but due to smaller crowds we could change and be flexible if we wanted to. This time we're going with friends and for the most part we'll be eating together. Personally, I'd rather us make plans for most of the nites and have PS arranged. I don't want to try and be spontanious and then wait hours to eat a meal, or not able to make any PS during our stay or not even get into the place we want. The wife and I have paid good $$ for the magical wishes in the past, and the 6 of us agreed to do it this time also. It's just the unknown of what type of crowds will be there that makes me nervous. So here is my question-

PS made in advance for Aug 14th-21st good planning,

or are crowds/dining managable for arrangment making during the week??

Thx in advance!

This is our first trip to WDW, however, based on my research, I'm going to play it safe and make PS for the must do restaurants we want to try. I've read that late August the crowds thin out quite a bit but I've heard mixed reviews of mid August. I think it's better to go ahead and make your priority seatings and then if you change your mind you can always cancel.

BTW, we'll be there 8/14-8/23!

We usually go in mid aug. I always make all our ps ahead of time. This is what was sold out when we were there this past aug. Hollywood and Vine - announced no walk ups for dinner accepted, we had the fantasmic pkg. for this. I also think this is due to the weather and alot of people are looking for a nice cool place to eat. Crystal Palace in the MK lunch - sold out. Stated by cm on stairs - no walks up accepted any time today. So if you have your heart set on eating something special or somewhere special , make the ps. Also we had a ps for norway lunch. It was not too crowded, then a rainstorm converged over epcot and guess what tons of people came and walked up, boy did it get busy in there. Then people were waiting to be seated.

Thx for the info. I'll let the others going with us we should really plan out our dining schedule and make our PS for the week. Anybody else with info about PS in mid Aug I'd be glad to hear it. Thx again!

That was our time frame last year and again this year. We found it worked out wonderfully to have PSs in place. If we decided not to go to the restuarant that we had the PS for, we just stopped by there and canceled it. But, usually it was where we went. And we found that a lot of people were told there would be a lengthy wait for walk-ups or they couldn't take anymore. So go ahead and make PS for the places you will really want to eat at.
