If I am making PS plans for our family of 8 (5 adults, 3 kids) do I need to go through group dining? Is this the same phone number? Also, is there anything different about a PS for 8, do I need a CC deposit, etc.? Sorry for all the questions and Thanks!

When I made our PS last week...we are a group of 9....they sent me to group dining for only the Ice Cream Social.

1900 Park Fare, CRT, `Ohanas, Chef Mickeys, Cape May, dinner at Garden Grill, Crystal Palace and 50's Prime Time...I could still make reservations for all of these restaurants without going to Group Dining.

I've made ressies for parties of 11 and 12 on two different trips. From my experience, it depends on the cm who answers the phone. If you are trying for CRT and the cm mentions transferring you, say no we'll take whatever you can get us. We were able to get two different ps for 8 for CRT on the same morning so all of our party could get in. We then reduced the number of one of them to make the ps exact.
Both of our trips were during Thanksgiving week. We did have to have a credit card deposit for the ones on turkey day, but not the rest. The only other ones we had to were for the party of 12- not 11. ?princess:

We were a party of 8 on our last trip and never had to use group dining. We dined at:

Spoodles, Liberty Tree Tavern (lunch), Sci-Fi (they just said they had to make 2 separate res for 4 each), Prime Time, Rain Forest Cafe, Garden Grill (would not do that one again because they ended up splitting us up in booths that we couldn't even see each other; we were not informed of this when we made the PS).

I just called today about the same thing. I was told by the CM that you only need to call Group Sales for groups of 13 or more. We will have 10 with us in December and I have alot of PS's to make so I'll find out for sure next week when I actually start making them. :earsboy:

Thanks everyone. Although I'm disappointed to hear about the Garden Grill splitting up your group. Do they always do this? We were thinking of doing this for the CP package but there is no way I'd want to split up, defeats the whole purpose of a family dinner! Do they have tables that can accomodate large groups?

Several restraurants may have to split you up. You will be told when making the PS. The two will encountered were the Plaza and yes we were split up and the 50s Prime Time (but lucked out and got a big table). Keep that in mind when making the PSs.

Garden Grill has 2 levels. The "top level has tables that seat 4 and cannot be moved. On the "bottom level" are high booths that seat 4 and some seat 8. There are only a couple that seat 8. The evening we went, there was a party of 4 seated in the bigger booth so that's why we had to be split up. When we asked why the party of 4 was in a booth that should have been ours they said that if it is available when they arrive and they specifically request it then they cannot be denied the the booth. I think that is a bunch of ____ (blank intentional) as we had the PS made and we were obviously a party that needed it. Since we didn't feel like waiting for another restaurant or that table (they were just seated before us), we went ahead and sat at 2 booths. We vowed not to return because of that incident and because we really weren't impressed with the food this time (I was a big fan before). Oh well, there are lots more restaurants!

When making our PSs we were only informed that the Sci-Fi would split us up. They did not say that for 50s Prime time or Garden Grill. We had not problem with 50s as they could push tables together for us. Actually, they made us push the tables together!
