I believe it went into effect sometime last year (and parts like the holiday dining 2002), but it is not for all PS, just ones like HDDR, etc or if you have a large party. MAke sure you understand the cancellation policy, so you are not charged if you can not go. They will tell you when making PS if you need to put it on a CC. If you want to know more just check out www.allearsnet.com. Look for the PS FAQ.
I had to use a credit card to guarantee our PS for Le Cellier on Valentine's Day evening. The CM told me they required the guarantee because it is a holiday.
Dinner shows HDDMR and the luau are pre-paid.
Holidays (including Valentine's Day) require a credit card to guarantee the reservation, and if you're a no-show, there will be a charge.
CRT requires a $10 depost per person, balance due on the day.
if you do cancel, be sure to write down the name of the CM that takes your cancelation, and the day/time you called. then check your credit card statement to make sure they really post the credit.
we JUST LAST MONTH received our refund from a cindy's deposit for january 2004! i didn't stay on top of it, and didn't realize until April that we didn't get the proper refund. took several times of contacting WDW (phone calls, e-mails). i was very glad i'd written down who i'd spoken with and when (was on my hard drive--don't know how can i be so meticulous about some things, and then let others totally slide....). spent about $3 getting our $15 back, and a bit of time, too.
i don't know why, but disney doesn't always give a cancelation number, even when i ask for one. the cm just says "there isn't one" or something like that. arghh!
