We will be staying at the Hilton Convention Center next month and I was wondering if that is too far to walk to the park. We would probably only walk in the morning to make sure we get there plenty early to buy our tickets and get in line and then take a cab or shuttle in the evening.

Just wondering what your recommendations are. And if we DID take the shuttle how early do they usually pick people up? I just want to make sure we get there in enough time to buy our tickets, possibly have to go to GS to get our tour tickets and get in line.

We are VERY limited on time as we are only there that one day so I want to make sure we have enough time to get it all done.

If you cut through the Timon parking lot (located right across Katella Ave from the Anahiem Convention Center), the walk would take 10-15 minutes to get to the front gates of DL/DCA.

If the Timon parking lot is open and the trams are running, you can catch a tram to the front gates. That would make your walk about 5 minutes or so (to the Lion King tram station).

We used to stay at the Coast Anaheim all the time (now that Sheraton) right next door to the Hilton! We have walked it many times, and it is a good 15 minutes, more like 20 with our 3 kids and the stroller. But it is very doable, and we stop at the 7-11 on the way and get drinks/snacks/coffee on the way.

We've stayed at the Anaheim Hilton, and like Matterhorn says, it's a good 15 to 20 minute walk to the front gate. Our 2 young DDs did it. One time, we left DL late and our youngest DD was about to fall asleep, so we took a cab back to the hotel. It was $9 for the ride.

Maybe we just walk faster. Of course my DH is 6'6" tall, and has very long legs, so when he walks, the rest of us are kinda in speed-walking mode. The kids and I have been walking like that for so long now that it's become our "usual" walking speed all the time, even when we're not with DH.

Anyway, if you can catch that Lion King tram (if the parking lot is open), it'll cut about 10 minutes out of the walk for you!

That's perfect. WE only need to do it once cuz on the way back we will probably catch a cab. I think we can handle the walk in the morning. It will get us motivated!!

We walk fast also but my kids are pretty young, 6, 3 and 1, so it does take a good 15 minutes atleast! My DH also walks super fast all the time like yours (what is it with them ), but still we haven't been able to make it from the door to our room to the gates at DL in less than 15 minutes from the Coast Anaheim. I wish we could catch the tram but with a double stroller to fold, it's more of a pain! I can't wait for the days we can hop on a shuttle or tram with no worries

Going off topic a bit :
I'm not sure what it is with my DH when it comes to his ultra fast walking speed. It's either due to the fact that he just has really long legs...or...he's in a big hurry to see Ariel...I'm not sure which. (our DS 7 has a HUGE crush on Ariel too - he wants to marry her when he grows up - DH just gives him a high five and says "Yeah, Duuuuuuuuuuude!") So, your DH wouldn't happen to want to watch "The Little Mermaid" a lot, does he???

Boy, do I remember the days with strollers and a HUGE diaper bag. Our youngest is three going on seven, and although we do get a stroller for him in the parks, we all just hoof it to and from the parks now, so it's much easier. So much less stuff to pack around or think about (no diapers, no wipes, no MANY changes of clothes for the baby, no burp rags, no bottles, no baby food, no baby toys, etc...) YIKES, I almost forgot how much stuff we used to have to take with us.

Okay, back to our regularly schedule program: Since kelmac284 is only going for one day, I think they'll do great with their plan of walking in the morning, and then taking a cab back in the evening (their feet will thank them for the cab by then). Just make sure to go out the "back" door of the Hilton (don't go out the front doors and then around the Hilton) and then walk past the Convention Center to Katella. (I can't tell you how many people we saw walking all the way around the hotel. Whew, I'm getting tired just thinking about it.)
