Okay, gotta brag. I have four kids, three DD (15,11 and 6) and one DS (8). My middle DD11 was our miracle baby- had lots of trouble with the pregnancy and then she contracted menningitis at 8 weeks of age and we almost lost her. The only end result of her illness is a mild learning disability that tests all of us at times. Anyway......she placed FIRST in her duet at the speech contest today. In fact, this was the first time her school (its a local Catholic k-8 program) competed at the tournament and Epiphany won, too.
Thanks go to the awesome coach, a communications professor from the local state university, and his student coaches. I was blown away by the performances- these kids and their coaches worked amazingly hard. Just to think that 11, almost 12 years ago we weren't certain that Emily would live- and now the judge told her she "has a career in dramatics or speech" ahead of her (oh well, so she won't ever leave home!).
I didn't think that I could hope for so much success- Emily surprises me at her hard work and dedication every day. Makes me a proud mom, and thanks for all of you for tolerating my brag moment!
