pros & cons of Hoop Dee Doo vs. Mickeys BBQ

Ok im going crazy, I am between the two of these shows. I will be doing all 1 credit meals and just one show. Can anyone tell me why they would chose HDDR over the BBQ? I read some mixed reviews on the BBQ but are there any cons to HDDR?? The thing about HDDR i like is preassigned seating (so i dont get all stressed out about having to go an hour prior and not knowing where i will end up, air conditioning, food. Is there anything else that would make me want to change my mind and switch to HDDR? Would my kids enjoy this better for any reason?

Im a bit nervous about the BBQ since it would be in August and dont know since we will be in the heat all day and then cant relax at dinner being in the heat again. It sounds like alot of fun for my two kids but not sure if its worth the headache it seems i will go through.

Well we have done both, and we have been in August also so I will try to help but I don't know how much help I will be since I can't decide which is better.

Hoop Dee Doo is a blast when you have a group of people. We went once when we had a total of 8 and we were all hooping and hollering and having a grand old time. I am not sure if it would have been the same with just my family of four. It is a nice show and the food is decent. I liked the strawberry shortcake for dessert.

The BBQ is a blast too. I also thought I was getting myself into trouble going in August but the heat wasnt that bad at the BBQ. It was so hot all day that the BBQ seemed like nothing. In fact once we got in and settled it was covered and cooler than it had been all day for us so we didn't complain that much. My kids were COVERED in icecream from mickey bars at the BBQ that were melting as fast as you could imagine. I thought the food was excellent and the entertainment was good. Where else can your kids dance around with the characters and have a ball like that? It is much different than a character meal. My kids were boogy-ing with chip and dale and I got great pics.

Anyway, I started out not knowing which to recommend and after typing this I have decided that I like the bbq better with kids. In fact I am wondering why I am not doing it again this May? Maybe I should if there is availability...probably too late though. I would say for you.... go for it!

I'm a huge fan of the HDDR! If you like a good show with a side of 'corn' (as in it's very corny humor) you and the kids will love it! It is the longest running dinner show in America. You know you have a seat, the food is brought to you, if you drink beer or sangria it's all you can drink. I've taken a friend of mine for his first trip to WDW and a year later he wanted to go back and do the HDDR again.

We have never done the bbq but have done HDDR 3 times. Since it has "poured" every single time, I guess we will stay the course and go to the Hoop...

My pro's for the Hoop

1. Good Food
2. All good seats
3. Great show
4. Air conditioning
5. Guaranteed dry - won't cancel
6. They substitute food for picky eaters
7. My kids loved the show when they were little and still love it as teenagers.
8. DH has his only beers here

i have a shy child and an outgoing one and although i think they would both love to watch. I know my older one (he will be 6) does not like to be forced into the dancing and what not. From your experience is the BBQ not going to work for us.
Is audiance participation a must or can you just sit back and watch?

I just don't want him to get upset if he is pressured to join in the "fun"

This goes for HDDR as well. we are trying to figure out which one if any would be a better fit for him?

Been to HDDR many of times and love it no cons at all about here and would go back
