Just trying to figure out if we should take a quick trip in February or if it would be smarter to wait until May or September. Would be me, DH, DD and DSIL and 2 year old DGD. DH is kind of high maintenance, the rest of the group not so much. DGD is very good-natured and will take whatever we throw at her! DD is trying for second child and if successful would not be able to do some rides later in the year. Just wondering about temperatures, crowds, things closed for rehab, etc that might detract from the trip. DSIL has never been, and we are hoping to get him hooked. Any thoughts from those who have been in Feb?

Gosh... I wonder if my DW considers me "high maintenance." :rotfl2:

Seriously, the overriding consideration for me came from your Location. We probably get a bit more snow than you, but I'm sure you get enough that you'll appreciate a break from the big freeze in February.

My question would be when if February. Presidents week can get very crowded. Can you go at an off time and take DGD out of school (if needed)? Also, do you care about being able to swim or relax by the pool? Weather can be alittle chilly for that.

I am going for a few days before Presidents week, Feb 15th - 18th. The crowds usually arrive on the 18th I think.

Will DH be miserable if you go in Feb instead of May or Sept? Do you care? :rotfl2:

We were there in early (2/1-2/9) February this year. The weather was too cold for swimming IMHO, but plenty of folks were in the pool. The hot tub was wonderful, though!! However, touring was fine for me (I do not do well in humid weather!!). :sad2: Crowds were minimal except for the Monday after the Superbowl (which was in Jacksonville). We did not see a lot of kids; mostly older adults, at least at OKW. The only major rehab I remember was, I think, Typhoon Lagoon. We normally do not visit at this time, but the airfare was too good to pass up. We needed a light jacket every day and mostly wore jeans.

February can be a nice time to visit - as mentioned, it is crowded around President's day, but the rest of the month it's not bad at all. Weather can be cool but much better than up North! Yes, sometimes a few rides are closed for rehab, but not enough to ruin your trip. We've had several wonderful trips in February!

February is our favorite time to go! While the main goal is to escape the snow and cold weather... there are other benefits too!

The crowds are lighter (before President's Day).
The prices are a little less (again, before President's Day).

What may be important to you:
might be too cold to go swimming (depending on your preference)
the park hours may be shorter than you're used to

But in my honest opinion... ANY time is a good time to go to Walt Disney World!!!! :earsgirl:

Definitely listen to everyone about the crowds for Presidents week. It gets absolutely crazy compared to any other time during the month. We have had years where it's beautiful and in the 80s and years where it's been in the 60s. However, it beats the snow and ice and cold here in the northeast. ;)

Pros -

Weather - it's pleasant - cool in the mornings but t-shirt weather most of the day. The lack of excessive heat makes it easier to get through the day and I thought we got more done in February than when we go in October and it's much hotter.

Crowds - we went at the end of February and the crowds were really low.

Cons - the only one I could think of was that many times it was too cool to swim, but that's not important to us at all since we're there for the parks.

We all went last February and are going again this February. The grandchildren will be missing three days of school and that is the most their parents will allow. We will be arriving Valentine's Day and leaving on President's Day, the 20th. The weather last year was quite pleasant last year..and the crowds really weren't that bad until the weekend....My problem...is this time...they all want to try a water park..(weather permitting)....Whew!...My 62 year old sister will be coming with us( I am 55) ....I told her that if the weather isn't too bad...She and I will both join all of them in Blizzard Beach ......and we WILL have fun! Hee Hee! :rotfl: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I never went in February, but I went the 1st week in March of this year. If it's comparable, it was a good time to go! Crowds were minimal until the last day of our trip when kids arrived for a competition. We didn't have to use FP until then. I wore capris and a t shirt during the day, and needed a sweatshirt and jeans in the evenings. It only rained once, almost a full day-- but we put our ponchos on and still had a good time!

We also go in early Feb., the crowds can be a bit much at pres. weekend, the weather is unpredictable, and there are rides/shows that are seasonal so they are not open. But Feb is the time we go every year and we love it, all of the above does not stop us from going! You are at Disney, I do not think there is a bad time to go to Disney!(except summer!) Have a great time whenever you go! :flower: :flower:

The last two times I went to WDW were in February. The weather on both trips were some hot days and some chilly days. Pack both shorts and jeans. The crowds are usually good. Have fun. ::MinnieMo

We went last year from 2/26 - 3/5.

Pros - minimal lines, only Small World was closed for rehab

Cons - the weather: We had several cold days with rain while there. In some cases it was nice because we were able to walk on almost EVERYTHING in EPCOT and MGM. We even walked on Mission Space. Amazing. The downside was it was COLD. We had jeans, sweaters, light jackets and ponchos and sometimes it wasn't enough.

Definitely pack warm and cold clothes if you go. I would definitely go back at this time of year. Actually, I am planning a January trip, so I am going when it could be even colder; however, it will be warmer than CT!

Don't forget that Mardi Gras falls on Feb 28th in 2006. A lot of Louisiana's travel to Disneyworld then

Exactly how crowded is it during president's week? Is it crowded all week long or just over the holiday weekend? Also, is February generally warmer than January? Thank you.

We went Feb. 13th - 24th. The weather was perfect :sunny: It only rained the night before we were to leave. We wore shorts most of the time, but a couple of times it got really cold at night. We packed both summer & winter clothes. The crowds weren't to bad. MK was the most crowded park, bumper to bumper people at times :rotfl: We had a wonderful time in Feb. & I would definelty go this time of year again. We did not go to any water parks, but we did enjoy the pools during the day. It was to chilly at night for me, but that didn't stop our 2 ds :goodvibes

We went the past 2 years in Feb, see my siggy. The weather was great. We wore light sweater/jacket in the am and evening. Days were short sleaves and capris. DD swam one day but could ahve more if there was time.
the Monday after Superbowl was crowded in MK, there was also the crowds from Daytona and Mardi Gras.

In Feb the year before, Poly had some rehab walls up which was just something we noticed. the weather was about the same and it got more crowded on Valentine's day which was pres week that year.

I love this time of year, the only downside is the parks are not open late. For me it worked out ok since I still have early bedtimes to deal with. Crowds are light allover and it makes getting around easier. We used Fast pass and never really waited for anything. Just watch the dates of Pres week, Valentines, Daytona and Mardi Gras. Work around them and you'll be fine.

Good observation henrylovespooh. We have found this to be the case as well. We have been in February many times and have found we get alot done in the day, more so than when we go in August. Another poster said it well; any time is a good time to be at WDW.
