We are going Oct. 1rst! Me, dh and ds6! I have already changed ressie once, but can't decide! Please HELP! Any advise appreciated!!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

hi: we've stayed in both. they both have good points- the new pool at the polynesian looks great and the grounds were very nice. the rooms are a bit larger than at the wl. we absolutely love the theming of the wl though; it really makes you feel as if you're not even in wdw anymore. it's a bit more relaxing (imo) than the poly. the pool is nice here as well. both are very convenient for the mk via the launches. the polynesian is better situated for transportation to epcot via monorail from the ttc.

I gotta agree with wdwnut...WL hands down - all it needs is the monorail and they could easily charge another 100 a night... maybe its a good thing we take the boat to the MK! :-)

Or maybe two nuts from new jersey think alike? :p

It's all in the theming...take a step back, look again & pick the one that appeals to you most...you can't go wrong with either. :)

Hope this helps. :)
Have a great vacation. :)

The WL all the way! The Poly just doesnt float my boat. And I best your DS will love the bunkbeds!

I've been to both also and prefer the Poly. The rooms are huge compared to the WL. The themed pool at the Poly is much larger and has a perfect view of MK. The beaches at the Poly are nicer and you can take a stroll from TTC to the GF. The transportation is much better at the Poly then the WL and you have more options. While the WL has great theming it really doesn't come close to the Poly. The Poly is a deluxe hotel all the way where the WL is more in the moderate range even though they try to call it a deluxe too. That is why it is always cheaper. My vote goes for the Poly!

Poly better than WL? Sure, if you like the 70's! My wife and I really thought the poly looked like it was straight out of the 70's. While nice, it really didn't impress me that much.

As far as the WL not being a true deluxe, come on! The themeing is awesome, the rooms are great IMO. I think the only reason why Poly costs more is the monorail service.

But then again, I'd be happy sleeping on a bench at the TTC, as long as I'm at WDW :)

ktulu: LOL!!!! That is exactly what my DH and I think! Never stayed at the Poly but been on the grounds. No interest for us. But to each his/her own.

As for WL. If I had to stay at the same place for the rest of my life at WDW it would be happily the WL. I just wish we could afford it every trip. I don't get the "not a deluxe" comment...but then again like I said...to each his/her own.

I used to think the Poly looked too 70ish before I stayed there. I didn't want to stay there for that reason. And then we tried it and will not go back to any other resort. It is supposed to be themed that way. The old Hawaiian style. And yes it is more deluxe then the WL. While I think the WL is beautiful, it doesn't hold a candle to the Poly. Hey, you can stay at the WL. That just leaves more pool chairs for me!:D

We have stayed at both....my whole family would say poly...poly...poly...they would not even have to think about it....the pool at poly is so much nicer..I have 2 girls...10 and 13.. the slide at poly is great...we did not think the pool at the WL was that great....the transportation was so much better at the poly...the boat to MK was so fast... we waited forever at the WL... but every one has there own opinion....amy

WL is great, love the theme and the pool with the waterfall that empties into it. The boat to the MK is great, but no monorail is the reason I would pick the poly. The WL busses seemed slow to me...maybe it is better now.

Poly is cool....as for 70's looking...well, kind of but not really...that's what people who have never stayed there say. It is theme just like it should be....just like Hawaii, etc. Poly has the boat to MK, busses...and of course the monorail, that's hard to beat.

You also get the nice beach area and view at the Poly, which is way better than the view at WL (as far as seeing MK, fireworks, water parade, etc).

The poly also has all of the little boats you can rent...not sure if WL had that, I don't think it did.

The new poly pool looks better as well....the WL pool was fun and they do have a hot tub, something the poly seems to still lack after all these years.

Either one would be a great choice...I would only go WL again if it was an issue of money....otherwise poly is THE way to go, hands down.

I gotta get in on this action.

WL all the way!!!!!!

- best theming
- best marina
- best water pageant (okay, maybe it's a tie).
- best duck races
- best lobby
- biggest geyser
- best restaurant (Artist Point)

Polly
- best tonga toast!!!
- best tonga toast!!! (that's worth 2 points)
- biggest volcano
- darkest brown color

My good friend who lives in Maui Hawaii, works in the hotel industry. He went with me this last trip and we visited Poly. We walked around the ground and check the lobby as well. All he said was nice, but it is out dated. He said the look of this resort is from the 70s. I honestly wouldn't know about the Poly 70s look cause I never grew up in Hawaii, but he lived there all his life.

He prefers Royal Pacific Resort better. He says that this is more of an up dated version of the Poly but even better.

I am in the same boat with the OP. I don't know which one to pick. I may just split my stay between WL and Poly. This way I get to experience both. I did find tranportation (via water taxi and monorail) wonderful at the Poly. I am more leaning towards the Poly due to the easy access to MK and Epcot and I love the island feel and the beach. But since we are going during Dec/Jan, WL would be nice due to the themeing during winter time.

I am probably of no help to you. Sowwie.
