Pros and Cons of staying off-site

I would like to stay in Animal Kingdom lodge in the future once Ive sold my villa and have a room with balcony to see animals.but have no idea how much this would cost for one adult and two toddlers!!!?

would you believe the monrail..... followed by the buses.....yes my niece loved the bus ride when she was 2 years old....

then I think it might be Dumbo at the MK....most kids that age won't like anything but fantasyland in the MK....

now some will love everything!!!

just depends upon the child.

you have a 17 year old and a 9 month old -

anyway at least the 17 year old can take the 16 year and 8 year old off for you.....

you would think the little mermaid too - but some kids were screaming - it turns okay in the end (it is Disney)....

the nightly fireworks are LOUD....

so I would suggest getting the little one back to the room before they start.

ITA - I can not imagine how much laundry I could accumulate for 7 people for 2 weeks!!! And those hotel laudry services or even the washer/dryers that take quarters will cost ya an arm & a leg!!!

WE SPENT almost $3500 on EVERYTHING including 2 rooms with AAA discount, fantastic dining plan, park hopper tickets, airfare for 5, tips, taxes, souveniers, etc. It was an AWESOME time. [6 days/5 nights January] We loved it. DH and I loved the adult time at night after kissing kiddos goodnight [they slept like angels...and we had the monitor]. We did breakfast at the castle, dinner at Chef Mickey's, breakfast at O'hanas with Lilo & Stitch, Fantasmic Dinner Package at Mama Melrose, a fabulous dinner at Coral Reef...it was truly upscale vacation at a Value Resort.

Now I am debating our next trip staying off-site or on-site. I'm looking into Emerald Island. I can get a whole house for $800 for the week! Wow, but I can't get the dining plan and I won't have the 'disney' feel and the people, etc....we even enjoyed the bus rides! ;o) Go figure!

And then you can pay for the same meals! Off-site doesn't mean no Disney Magic -- some of our best memories are watching DVDs in off site locations. Hit the Dollar Stores and get some Disney trinkets for the kiddos. And the whole family will love the pool. "Try it, you'll like it" in the words of an ancient TV commercial.

Oh MY! I just learned about the free dining and it's actually offered when we were planning on being there..........now what? I've never done this before.

DH wanted me to get a quote from WDW and it was only about $200 more than we were planning on spending........ofcourse it's only for 10 nights (the first night we would stay somewhere offsite) and if we were offsite it would be 14 nights.

Oh man! This means if we do it we would have to stay in one room at POR (that is the most economical choice for our family of 5). I love POR but two doubles and a trundle? I hate double beds..............arghh! But the free dining would be a huge plus!

Well, there might not be any available by the time I call on Tuesday........so then I guess I wouldn't have to worry about it...........choices, choices......

It's not really *FREE* dining if it costs you 4 days of your vacation AND an extra $200.!
