Pros and Cons of going in early December

I have been considering a trip for next year at this time, and I was wondering what Mousefest and Pop Warner are, and how badly they affect the crowds in the beginning of December.

>"Same pros as everyone else, but it's also very close to Xmas to put out that kind of $$$$$ IMO<"

Actually, if you do it right, you might be able to kill two birds with one stone. I know for us, our Trip will be our MAIN christmas present. Now, instead of having to dish out a whole bunch of money for Disney, and THEN a whole lot more money for Christmas (by the way, whatever happened to the real meaning of Christmas :confused3 ), we are just going to tell the kids to enjoy their BIG present. I'm sure we will get a few little things for them to open Christmas Day, but they won't be expecting anything big :thumbsup2

In fact, you might even be able to incorporate some of your souvenier shopping into Christmas. Just make sure your kids don't see you buy it, hide it till you get home, and Voila, another cool present that reminds them of their trip!

Next year Mousefest is Dec 2-10, with the sea portion the 2nd to the 6th and the land portion the 6th to the 10th. I would expect that Pop Warner will be Dec 2nd to the 8th, because they usually go the first full week of December,
These events generally do not have an impact on the crowds, the mousefest group while a good size is not so huge as to effect the parks. The Pop Warner group does not effect the parks but I would stay away from the resorts that they stay in..usually the Allstar Sports, All Star Music and the POR with some groups also staying in the POFQ.

we are planning a trip for december 2007 - probably the 14th through 19th or so...How quickly do deluxes fill up? Also, what all do you do in the evenings when the parks close? On our past trips which were in October, we stayed til they shut the parks down, and then collapsed in bed! We won't really know what to do with ourselves with time out of the parks...

Some of the positives of an early December trip we found were:

- Absolutely no humidity
- All of the holiday themed decorations, shows, etc... at the
parks and even some of the resorts.
- We found everyone (CMs, other visitors, etc...) to be in great
moods. Lots of holiday cheer
- MVMCP (we had a great time at the party)
- Short wait times for most rides (never more than 15 minutes
max --- except Soaring and we were able to get
fastpasses for that.)
- Unless you stay at one of the resorts where Pop Warner
groups are staying you won't notice them.

Some of the negatives of an early December trip we found were:

- Weather is unpredictable. Last year it was great for 90% of
our visit. We kept an eye on the long range forecasts
and found we were able to pack accordingly.
- Christmas music everywhere, ALL THE TIME. I normally love
it, but as a previous poster mentioned by the end of
our trip it was driving me a bit crazy.
- The pools were actually quite cool (even though during the
day the air temps were hi 70's/lo 80's.)

We'd definitely go in December again.
