So I'm finally taking the big step in Feb, and after adding up the cost of the the ring, hotel, food, tix, and everything else, it doesn't seem like I'll be able to do the Gifts of A Lifetime proposal plan I was hoping to do. Its okay though since it was probably going to be more complicated than it should have been (I didn't contact GOAL yet, but know roughly how much it would cost).
So I was thinking that I would give the future misses her ring at the Cali Grill and was wondering if anyone know what I might be able to arrange. We always eat at the Cali Grill, so she'll just be thinking that it's out "fancy dinner".
I still have a few months before the trip, so I don't want to call them quite yet, in case the info would get misplaces somewhere.
Besides, I wouldn't even know whom to ask for.
It is really important to me to have a picture taken while I'm on my knee, which I hope could be arranged too. Has anyone ever seen something similar either at the Cali Grill or someplace else? I remember reading that at V&A's they can put the ring in a bunch of rose petals or something like that.
Thanks in advance for the help. And luckily I know she'll say yes, so I'll be a little less nervous. Plus I have Rose convinced that it'll be at least another year until she gets her rock. ;) Its just too bad WDW did away with the whole Engagement Programs thing.

When you make Priority seating have them note it on your ressie. As for picture Hopefully A cm can help.

I don't know about this...The CG is VERY noisy. It is romantic and upscale...But noisy. Maybe Jiko would be more like it?

Congrats!!!

Well, I would want to speak to the manager of the California Grill directly if I was going to plan such a wonderful surprise. I'm quite sure you'd have no difficulty working your way up the chain. Anyone know the number for the CG directly? That would help. If not, start with Disney dining and ask for the direct number to the restaurant. I'd call the same day that you'd normally make reservations. If that person can't help, ask for a manager within Disney dining. And then go from there. Once you speak with the CG manager, I'm quite sure they'll help you set up your evening. They are a very professional and accomodating staff. It can be a it noisy there, but you know that if you've been there. If you take her to V&As, you might raise her suspicions. Are you going to propose during fireworks or something...that would be a very cool time....a little less noisy, very intimate lighting.....Good luck, and let us know how you make out!!

Thanks for all the help so far! I definately agree that it can be a little noisy for such an expensive place, but since the CG is Rose's favorite place I figure that'll help make it a little more special.
The wost thing they can say is "no we can't help you", but I don't think that'll happen. Every time I have been there, the staff has been the most pleasant of all the restrauants.

Some time back there was a thread about seeing a proposal at CG. Wish I could remember who started it. It certainly sounded like the staff helped that young man. I think they "served" the ring somehow??

What a special memory you'll have....beautiful restaurant, view, food, service, etc.. Great choice I think! Congratulations a little early!

Speak to the manager directly. They have a back room all the way onto your left (as you walk into the main dinning area). It's a lot quieter, more approprimate for proposing. Plus, if time is right, you can see MGM firework from that room. I got seated in it last time through AKL concierge service. A much better setting than the 'opening' dining area.

Congrat by the way. I hope it all goes well.

Just one piece of advice: do NOT put the ring in the food!:p

i'm sure you can arrange for something special at CG for your proposal. congrats by the way! one thing that would make the night very special is if you get a table that has a great view of the castle. also, make sure that that particular night the MK does fireworks. when the fireworks go off, she might watch them. it'll give you a chance to catch her off guard as you get ready to go on one knee. i think that is a pretty romantic idea. you don't have to do it if you don't want to. i'm just giving a suggestion. good luck and let us know what your final decision is.
