We were at the Fort last year at Christmas time and all decorated when two days before the end of the trip we ran out of propane. Does any one know how to get propane delivered to the camp site? :confused3 We ended up staying at a hotel for the night because we were cold and no heat.. Don't want that to happen again..Thanks

pack an electric heater in the camper to run at night. we use one that has the temp control and oscilates. just a thought..

Unless it's changed in the last two years, there's no propane refills at the Fort. We always topped off at the Flying J when we road tripped down from GA.

If you have a propane tank, you used to be able to drop it off at the trading post and they would have it filled and returned to you the next day. If you are in the mood to unhook, camping world is just a few miles away. I like the idea of a portable heater, though.

If you have a TT or a 5er just take your bottles to the Meadow's Trading post and leave them there and they will be ready the next day or the day after. My parents use a lot of propane and have refilled there a few times. Me on the other hand I can go a year with out needing propane.:confused3

Check with your RV dealer or online about installing a heat strip in your AC unit. That way you can heat your rig with the AC using the campgrounds electric and you don't have to worry about packing the heater or where too place it when in use.
I am in the process of doing this now just waiting for the controll unit to get off back order.

Our furnace hasn't worked in 4 years. We've used a couple small cube heaters all that time. It also saves propane for cooking and water heating. And we often have to use air conditioning part time.

If it's a MH then I don't think there is any propane delivery service at FW and you would have to physically go somewhere for that. For removable tanks you have to take them and pick them up at Meadows and be aware they charge by the tank and not what propane is needed to fill the tank so a 1/2 full tank will cost you the same an an empty one. The CW near FW uses the same policy at least for the removable tanks, but should charge just by the gal for installed ones on MHs. i have had a tank filled a couple of times at FW, but they were empty based on the auto switchover indicator so their one charge fits all was not a real issue for me in the end.

We dropped off our tanks at the Meadow's Trading post about 10 times during our stay I found it was cheaper than driving off property and if you drop it off before 12:00pm you can pick the tank up after 4:00 pm. The greatest thing you never have to leave the fort. I think the cost was $22 for a 30 pound tank

The small electric heaters work great. I use a small cube type back towards the bedroom area and a larger heater (bought from Sam's club http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/product.jsp?productId=183158&navAction= ) in the front living area. Works well in my rig with exterior temps of about 40 & above. Then I set my furnace to come on at 70 degrees if it drops too low.

If you have a MH, you may also consider getting an extend-a-stay hookup so you can run off a regular portable propane tank & get it refilled at the Meadow drop off.
