Proof of time submitted significantly better than anticipated time

When I registered for the full, I put an anticipated finish of 6:00. I have never run a full marathon so this really was an educated guess.

However, I just submitted a half-marathon time of 2:29:46. According to a calculator I used, that's a predicted finish of 5:12 for the full. Will they update my anticipated time to 5:12 (or whatever their calculations show) or will they leave it at 6:00?

Is there a significant corral difference between those 2 times?

Slightly related question...how far do you need to run before the crowd disperses enough that you can move over to the side and walk? I use a run/walk/run interval and I always have trouble at the beginning of the races and usually end up running anywhere from .5-1 mile before I can find room to walk.

I'm in the same boat and end up doing the same thing. Usually more like 1.5-2 miles though. The advice I got was to start the walk segments as soon as it's safe to do so, but I just haven't been able to do it any earlier.

It never hurts to suggest an estimated finish. I believe that in most cases they do correct it, but if you suggest an estimated time, they will usually honor your estimate - assuming it is within reason.

You will be in crowds most of the way. There is quite a bit of space at the beginning, with choke points at places like highway ramps and park entrance areas. It tends to open up a bit after the Polynesian. I try to find someone who is walking and single-file right in behind them. I raise my hand and say "walking." If you aren't stopping on a dime, in a group, you are unlikely to upset anyone. Walk when you need to, you won't be the only one.

I'm going to agree with coach. It wouldn't hurt to resubmit your proof of time with a revised estimated finish as well, just in case. You can always start in a later corral if training warrants but you can't move up to a faster corral.

I highly recommend submitting an anticipated finish time along with your proof. When I submitted my 10K time for the PHM and let runDisney estimate my finish time, they estimated far slower than all the online calculators. When I submitted another 10K time, I also submitted a reasonable estimated PHM finish time and they accepted it. (I estimated slightly slower than my most recent 10K would justify.)

Shoot. I wish I had read this before because I just submitted a half marathon time but didn't give them a new estimated finish time.

Good question about when it's ok to walk. I have that same problem all the time at the beginning of races. During that frantic first mile I actually just try to to jog nearly as slow as possible when it's time for me to "walk" and leave it up to others to pass me (still trying to be over to the side of course).

With the new proof of time, you'll probably be ok. I went back and checked from a prior year when I had a significant leap in half marathon PR, and I emailed them my new PR without a new estimated time, and they put me in the "right" Goofy corral for my PR.

As for the walking, it is pretty wide at the start of the race. I can't remember specifically, but I don't think I've gone more than a mile at Disney before starting my run/walk pattern. The races are so crowded overall that you just have to find a method and go with it. What I find even more challenging is the run, which after the first few miles and people are settled into their paces, I'm always running faster than all of the people around me and need to do a lot of passing. Then walking. Rinse, repeat. There are narrow stretches, I'm thinking of the single lane that goes near the Grand Floridian, where I pretty much have to give up on doing much passing at all.

Do u write ANTICIPATED TIME ( those words) below all the other info they request?

Sorry, disappeared from the boards for a while...

I already received a confirmation for the time I submitted and I am not worried about the corral enough to email them back and make sure they adjust the finish time. The email I got did say "Your corral assignment at the event will reflect this information." We'll see!

My main goal was just to not start in the very back.
