Proof of Residency for Universal?

My DS is a college student at Full Sail and he wants to go to HHN at Universal. I did a search and found out that he can use his college ID for a Florida Resident pass at Disney. but couldn't find any info about Universal.

Has anyone here ever used their college ID successfully at Universal for Florida Resident tickets?

I don't know about using a college ID, but the last time I went to Universal, I tried to purchase a FL resident ticket at the gate.. which apparently you CANNOT do. You HAVE to purchase it ahead of time. When they told me that, I turned around and walked back out. It didn't say anywhere online when we checked that morning that I needed to purchase my ticket online if I wanted the resident discount.
