Disney has decided to restrict the Member Cruise from owners who purchased resale after March 2011. You need to own at least 25 direct purchase points to book either cash or points. If you purchased prior to the change in 2011 then you were grandfathered in and can book the member cruise and use either points or cash.

I have a question, when your resale DVC points are restricted, in that they cannit be used for cruising, what do you see on your DVC member site where it usually says: you can use point to book a druise departing so and so date....

Do you not see any of those options? Or do you actually see " you cannit use poibts towards a cruise " or so ething like that?

I think the PP specifically meant the Members Cruise, not general DCL cruises.

It doesn't really matter. You can't book a general DCL cruise with resale points purchased after that date in March (was it 2011 or 2012?),

I don't think that general notice is that specific. You'd need to call MS to book a cruise anyway and they would tell you.

Hi Dis friends!

Help needed with purchasing DVC direct please -

I will be paying cash for the DVC - 160 points and I have not started the process yet, so what should I do?

Go to WDW and take a tour, get a $50 gift card, and get a gift card for buying from WDW DVC - like how much- 500 gc?

Go on DCL, attend presentation, get free items (hat, notebook, water bottle), fill out form and talk to guide - then sign up later on cruise and get a $500 onboard credit?

Get prior year points with the Use Year with my month selected -

Any other pointers I need to get the best deal out there?

Can you negoitate the price per point - $165 a point or less?

Disclamier - I have to buy direct with DVC, I understand it costs more than buying from a broker or indirect, but have to buy direct for certain reasons..

I am all for Resale but if you must buy Direct go to thier website to see the offers. Currently they are offering 20-40 extra points per year if you buy into certain resorts. I tried to post a link for you but bc I am new, I'm not allowed
