Is there still a promo for SSR points??? What about AKV points?? I'm sooooo confused...first we're thinking resale .... now we're like what's the difference of a couple of hundred dollars and we just have to deal with Disney directly which we would prefer ...would like BW from Disney which seems to be available more often than other properties...but then I think wait a minute why not SSR if there is a promo and I have the points longer ...even though I will be in diapers and eating Farina....or maybe the Animal Kingdom ...great hotel ...stayed there for an overnighter once and got a room overlooking the vulture pit .... really felt like throwing something at them, but I refrained... anyway I digress ... anyone know anything about any good promotions that would help with my point mania. UGH!

I'm curious too. I am thinking about another add-on but am wondering if there will be better SSR specials once AKV goes public.

I like the concept of the AKV - like I said I stayed there once and beside the killer vultures it was a very cool place. I've stayed at SSR and I felt that everything was too spread out ... I needed a car to get to the pool and at that time they still did not have a formal restaurant ... just the food court. For the value I think AKV would be more valuable....not that I would ever want to get rid of my points .... just acknowledging since AKV is a unique environment different than any other DVC property I think it would make it a more valuable investment. UGH,,,,must have more points!

I would think after the dust settles that the price from Disney for SSR and AK will be the same. Each resort will have the same contract time frame. Why would one resort sell for more or less?

I thought the announced contract end date dor AKV was Jan 31 , 2057 . NOT the same date as SSR. They are starting with 50 years for AKV.

I think you answered your own question. If you are not fond of SSR and love AKV more, then buy at AKV. Spread out over the 50 year term, the difference in price isn't that much per year. Yes your MFs will be more (4.12/pt at SSR vs. 4.68?/pt at AKV), but you will be able to get your ressie at the 11 month window for the place you want to stay at. If you will never be able to ressie earlier than 7 months, then I guess you can look for a lower price per point sale, but I recommend buying at the resort you want to call home.

If you want to base it solely upon cost at this time, AKV is selling for $101/point with either an $8 per point discount or developes points.

SSR is selling for $101 per point but with a $10 per point discount...
