Looking for a good backless bra for my daughters prom dress but nothing seems to have good reviews for a size D.

There's so many different styles and different complaints out there I'm wondering if anybody has experience with any of them and could tell me what you like. I figured Victoria's Secret was a good go to but it had bad reviews too :/

I feel silly, because I have never heard of a backless bra, but I know wedding dresses usually have bra cups sewn in somehow. Can she have something like that done? I would think somewhere that does alterations could do it.

My niece went shopping with us for my dds prom. She had dd get something that looks like the soma but its not covered n material. My niece wears al kinds of undergarment and knows all the tricks but she's a Big B or a small C cup. Well my dd is a B cup and thinner. DD said the bra looks like chicken breast-lol! Luckily her dress and a built in cups so she wore the backless bra. the one complaint she had was that she sweated and her breast were wet not a good feeling-lol!

Following because dd wants a good strapless bra

I was thinking about that but not sure I can get any kind of support in with the delicate fabric

The strapless at Victoria's Secret are a hit for my DD, plus with the credit card I got a coupon book for free stuff for her. The items are on the expensive side but they are very good quality and lasting a long time with daily hand washing and drying plus an occaisional trip through the washer and dryer

My daughter wants to try the adhesive ones from target that I can find cheaper on Amazon with Amazon prime I'll get it in two days- I'll report back how it works.
I think I remember using these years ago when my kids were toddlers and we were in Disney in August and while It didn't provide much support I think with the Kamis it made me comfortable on the hottest of hot days

I just recently got one off Amazon. It had pretty good reviews and worked just fine for her. It was the adhesive type.

DD has used the adhesive types we got at Target. They work fine for her, but she's only a C cup on a good day. For prom, we went with just silicon nipple covers since the full bra would have looked funny with the dress.

The adhesive ones, if they stay, really do not provide much support for those with a bigger bust. Like they help keep things in place better, but the support is really not there. It might not hurt to find an alterations place and bring the dress in to find out if it would be possible to sew in the appropriate cups. Also, how backless is the dress? They do make some bras that are designed for really low back dresses that might provide better support.

For someone well-endowed, the best option for a backless dress is a long-line bra. (You didn't say how backless, but the reality is that if you are well-enough endowed that feeling comfortable without a bra is not an option, then a backless dress that goes below the waistline is not going to be something you can really wear.) Bare Necessities has quite a few options, including low-wrap styles that have a crisscross strap around the waist.

Adding an internal bra to a dress is something that can be done, but it's a tricky type of alteration, and tends to be expensive if you need real support. I do it quite often for figure skaters, and when real support is a necessity, it can require a bit of re-design to allow for extra anchor points.
