Hi everyone,
My DD is going to the prom this year. She and her friends would like to get a Limo to take them. Well, it is pretty expensive, $100/ hour. She found a site with no minimal hours. Do you think it is possible to get it twice, once to get there and second time to pick kids up from restaurant. Did anyone do it this way or we have to rent it for the entire time. I do not know how this works. Any suggestions, advices, please.:)

On big nights like the Prom and during most Saturdays and Sundays during Peak Wedding Season (summer), I can pretty much guarantee that there is not a limo company that will do just two round trips, it's a full evening or nothing pretty much. My parent's neighbors owned a limousine company (among a few other companies) and that's how it worked, and honestly considering its March, many places are probably already sold out for that evening.

I see your point, unfortunately;). By all night, you mean like whatever hours we need 5, 6, 8, or actually the whole night.

If you get a decent size limo and a good number of friends together the price isn't so terrible. I think about 5 couples fit in our limo for my prom and it came out to about $120 each girl including tip. Considering this was 1988 I am surprised prices remained about the same.

Since the pick up and drop off times for everyone at the prom will be the same I can't see how any limo place wouldn't see the strictly round trip thing as a huge loss. I'm doubtful they'll go for it especially considering the fact that in a few weeks there won't be a single limo that isn't spoken for by someone. If you can get a limo don't linger too long or you might lose it.

You can try to reduce the cost by limiting the pick-up spot to one house, maybe the one with the nicest landscaping for all the parent's pictures. All the driving around from house to house can add on at least an hour in extra cost. Same goes for the drop off at the end of the night.

Usually they have cap minimums based on the event, for Prom, I think my parent's neighbors was 6 hours, but you could reserve more.

It's because most Prom's start from 6:00 - 8:00; if they only reserved the limo for the pick-up and drop off followed by a return 3 - 4 hours later it would be very difficult to fit in another reservation in between in most cases based on the need to clean the car, get it to another location and ensure it is back to pick-up the other party.

I just found some site, they charge $900 for 10 hours for prom for 10 seat Lincoln. We definately do not need 10 hours but I think price is not bad, $90 a person. Unless there are some additional fees. I guess kids will have to figure out who is comming soon. I had no idea, I have to book it fast. Thank you.

Just a note, I wouldn't put 10 people in a 10 passenger limousine, it will be extremely crowded and tight, sure it can be done, but usually you want to drop 2 from any passenger limit for a comfortable trip. So for a 10 passenger, I wouldn't put more then 8 passengers in it (many limousine companies will even mention this).

Tips are almost always seperate, and you should budget 20% for them. Everything else should be included assuming the vehicle is not damaged by the kids (this includes getting sick in the vehicle).

I would definitely call or email for a quote. We have been in the prom limo search also and every site is different. I have gotten quotes that were equal to the online price, just add tax, to the extreme of the online quote being $2600 (limo party bus) to the actual price rising to $5900:scared1:after fuel surcharge, tip, and who knows what else (owners mortgage payment maybe:lmao:). I have also had some companies call back that they were already sold out for our date. So I wouldn't wait!

One thing I read (probably on the Dis) is that if you are arranging a limo - and the parent responsible for paying for the limo - make sure you collect IN ADVANCE - all fees for the rental and tips. Otherwise - you'll risk getting stuck with whoever doesn't pay.

No, the limo company won't go for that. Prom nights are their bread-and-butter, and although it isn't the answer you want to hear, they will just say no to this idea. If you don't want to pay for the limo, someone else will. Around here, there are more limo-wanters than available limos.
