Okay so DS has a "Your place in the world" project. I'm sure many of you are familiar with this. You have to create something for each of the following: Planet, continent, country, state, parish (we live in Louisiana) and town. They must all nestle into each other. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what we can use that will all nestle into each other.
Please don't suggest shoe boxes... we don't keep them. :sad2:
Oh, and did I mention that we had a death in the family and I don't have a lot of time to look for anything... that's why I'm turning to you guys!!!!!
Thanks in advance!!!!!

How old is your DS? Can he do any of it on a computer? How about a poster board?

Use newspapers, magazines, printouts, menus, or whatever local stuff you can pick up, etc and glue them on the poster board.

No poster board allowed.. should have said that... sorry! We have all the pics and facts to put on it... just need objects that nestle into one another.

My first thought was a set of nesting dolls, which are hollow.

Tupperware or Rubbermaid containers? If you have a Container Store around, you might get some ideas (and you can get boxes there....)

How about different mailing envelopes? Not particularly 3-D, but hey....

Not to get into it with assignments, but I would think that the project description should have offered some suggestions for nesting items....

So are you just pasting facts and pics to something or does it include other objects?

Try the preschool toy section at a toy store. My kids have lots of toys that nest - we have a set of cups and also a set of (Playhouse Disney) boxes.

Oh so this is something you have to have "put together" and then it "unfolds" in layers.

Thankfully never had to do a project like that.;)

How about disposable cups, coffee filters, or does it have to be a gradual nesting?

I would go with a set of the rubbermaid if that is the case.

Sorry! My mind isn't right this week!!! I need to be more clear before I ask for help! :cloud9:
The objects must nest into each other and must contain photos and facts glued to it. The only example that was given was shoe boxes. The teacher stated that you could cover them all with brown paper or the same color solid wrapping paper and paste the pics and facts onto it.

Pie tins from a bakery?

Actually, I've often found that for situations like this, where you need cheap 3-D type containers in varying sizes, visiting a deli counter or bakery will net really good results. Most of the time they will sell you a selection of their plastic or foil containers for just a couple of dollars. It's an odd idea, sure, but I've never met a small-business manager yet who was averse to making a couple of bucks with no effort. They buy those containers for pennies, and selling them to you for a buck or two is nearly pure profit.

I'd go with the plastic bowls. The Dollar Tree has all shapes and sizes. If you can't do that, what about different sized tins?

Gumbo Pot...All the way down to a small tabasco bottle
