This is a great thread!!
Well, DH (31) is in the military and I (29 *sh*) have a BA in Criminal Justice and work for the state of GA. So we are definitely not rich, middle class couple with two girls, dd (10) and dd (7 weeks). DH and I have been together since HS, I graduated in May, got married in July and had #1 dd in Sept of the next year. Time ran away from us and we just had another little girl on 02/03/04!! We'll be celebrating our 12th anniversary in July of this year.
My dad was in the military also and we never took vacations. Moving around was enough hassle with the packing and unpacking, so I guess the packing and unpacking for vacations would have been work for my parents. My dad's idea of a vacation was bbq'*** and being surrounding by his family. DH came from a struggling single income family with 4 brothers and sisters, so he never took vacations either.
We first went to wdw on dd's 5 or 6 birthday and I became hooked ever since. We took the tour 4 years ago, but couldn't afford it just yet. Last year we figured after all the trips we took we should go ahead and buy before the points went up again. We bought 200 pts at BVC used MB and financed for ten years. I don't want to use those ten years to pay for it, but didn't want to be crunched just in case anything happened, ie we moved and I didn't have a job right away. I've become an official soccer mom and just bought a mini van, so we don't have to rent one every time we go down to wdw. Now I know why my neighbor got excited when her and her husband bought an Odyssey last year. I love my '04 Quest!
My parents know about our purchase and my dad is confused as to why I love going to wdw so much. He loves to work, he began working for the state after he retired from the military at the same time as I did and he not only has the max amt of annual and sick leave, but has comp time too!!! I, on the other hand, at any given momment probaby have just enough leave to take a week at wdw

He loves to work.
Our first trip to wdw at BVC as official members will be in July and we've rented a 2 bedroom b/c my parents are coming with us!!!
Another couple who I got hooked into wdw asked me what our payments were and I told her. She was kind of shocked and exclaimed that it was a car payment. I thought about it, and it is a car payment, but unlike most cars, it'll last until 2042 and I'll have wonderful memories to go with it!
