My job requires me to meet & deal with the public in authoritative position. I need professional clothing. I prefer pant suits but have trouble finding blouses to wear with them. IF I find a matching blouse, it seems to have a plunging neckline, ruffles or sequins. None of which I consider professional enough. Where do you purchase you professional work clothing?

Well made/classic/stylish...that's Talbot's! I've loved just about everything I've ever gotten from them and they clothes wear exceptionally well.:thumbsup2

Ann Taylor
Ann Taylor Loft
Talbots
Banana Republic
Macy's
Nordstrom

Ann Taylor is having 40% off their entire store during after-Christmas sales. Purchased several pieces of work-style classic clothing for my dd who will be graduationg from college this spring. Sale items are an add'l 40% off on top of the mark down price too. Apply for an AT credit card and get an add'l 15% off that day (both online and in store purchases).

Talbots is my family's favorite store of all!

JC Penney's is my secret store - I can get clothes that look like they came out of the Limited for a lot less.

Past that:

The Limited
New York & Company
Target
Dillard's
Macy's
Ann Taylor The Loft
Gap
Old Navy

I get pieces from all over though. You just have to look carefully. I look through what's on the above websites pretty often and subscribe to a fashion magazine to keep up with what the trends are and then figure out how to incorporate it into work appropriate look.

Dress Barn. I find they have stylish clothing that works for an adult woman who is not a size 2, does not want "the girls" out of the garage all the time, and actually has to deal with the public.

I'm a teacher (band director more specifically) and a lot of my every day clothing comes from the Gap. For my more formal outfits (suits for concerts) I go to Banana Republic. I love that store:love:. Some of my everyday clothes are from there as well, but they are a tad more expensive.

Most of my suits are from Macy's. I gave up on finding comfortable blouses anywhere-just can't wear them, not sure why. I have a couple from Liz Claiborne that are no wrinkle that are great when I need a blouse but I usually wear a cotton shirt under them. I moved more into wearing nice sweaters with my suits-many from Jones New York, again from Macys. I found some great turtleneck sweaters at Kohl's that are very comfy and look nice with my suits.

I HATE that they sell suits as sets. I have broad shoulders and need a larger jacket then I do pants. I have a LOT of pants in my closet that are 2 sizes too big because I bought the jacket. I discovered that Macy's has Tahari separates so I bought several pair of black pants to go with my suit coats and that worked well.

I have a few things from Talbot's but they are not "professional" enough for what I needed them for. They were more my "Friday casual" wear :lmao:.

I'm Pooh-sized, so Catherine's is my first go-to, but the last few years they seem to have gone much more casual, so I've had trouble finding stuff (I'm also becoming more conservative as I get older).

Other than that, Nordstrom and Macy's. If you're ultra conservative, you could try Lands End for jackets and shirts -- they're pricey, but wear very well with basically timeless styling.

Ann Taylor Loft, the Gap, Target, and department stores!
