Product packaging - then and now

DH Obi-Wan and I were talking about this in the car on the way to work yesterday. We were reminiscing about how certain foods used to be packaged and how it seemed that the food tasted better that way.

Of course there is the Coke in glass bottles. Especially the long neck ones that have been replaced by the ever growing plastic 6 pack.

Do you remember Hunt's pudding when it came in the little cans with the pull top?

Now they are even changing the Hersheys bar. It's no longer in the traditional paper and foil wrappers.

What other food can you think of that has gone through this drastic packaging change over the years?

Big Macs come in recycled paper boxes instead of the styrofoam boxes they once did.

Drink cans don't have the tops that you had to pull off to drink them anymore.

Weird, I had been thinking about this recently too.

Frozen tv dinners in aluminum trays
Pop-Tarts in the paper/foil wrapper

How then can you make a little tiny "silver" goblet, without that foil wrapper??? (a favorite childhood activity of my sister and me, while we ate our Hershey Bar).

Ring Dings!! They used to come individually wrapped in silver foil also (and we ALSO made the silver goblets from those)

Well, they still have foil-wrapped Hershey bars here in the Tampa Bay, FL area. I know because I just purchased a 36-bar box from Costco. They still have the same foil wrapper on them.

The new Hershey bar packaging is TERRIBLE. If it is just a little warm outside, the chocolate sticks to the plastic when you try to open it. Why, Hershey, why? You are just making the thing more difficult to eat!

I remember when I was just a kid we had a HUGE glass jar of Luster Cream shampoo in the bathroom.

I hate the new packaging on the Kit Kat's too. You can't just open the foil and break off one piece.

I loved old Coke bottles too and cans of pudding!!!
