Process for having items taken at check-in?

Hi there, we are first time cruising later this year out of Miami. We are travelling from Australia, and will be away from home for about a month.

My husband has dietaries which won't be a problem on the cruise, but I want to take our small electric travel fry pan for the rest of our trip. I know I won't be permitted to take it onboard the Magic, and I also think i'll have a power cube which won't be allowed.

To save any hassles, at what point in check-in will they want to take these from us? Will it be easiest for me to have them in a seperate bag ready to hand over? I want to waste as minimal of everyone's time that I can.

Thanks!

If the items are in a carry on bag, they will take them at the port. If they are in checked luggage, they will take them on the ship.

They will take them when they x ray your bags. It would be a good idea to put them in a separate bag because then they won’t make you open your carry on and just take the bag with the stuff.

If you leave in your check in bag they will open your suit case to take out after it’s x rayed.

To get things back they will be on a table loose with every thing else they took maybe in a bag you can pick up faster…lol

Once you leave the luggage area after you clear customs you can pick up your items that security held. There’s some interesting things on the table sometimes. 😜

Thank you so much - that's really helpful!

If you have something to plug the fry pan in, they will confiscate it. My family and I found out the hard way the last time we cruised that our surge protector was taken away :sad2: I would recommend putting the stuff being taken away to put it in a bag
