Hi There Fellow Canadian Dis-Friends!
I am wondering if someone can help me with what to expect procedure wise for our upcoming trip to Disney! This is our first time flying, and actually our first time to Disney since Sept 11th. We do not have passports, but are driving across the border to fly out of Rochester. So having birth cert's and photo ID for ourselves for the border crossing, and birth certs for the kids ready to show - I believe from an earlier post is a-ok. Do the border crossing peopl actually speak with the kids in the van? My little guy may not be too impressed with that! And what about when we get to the airport? Do we show our birth certs again before boarding the plane?

Sounds like a few silly questions - but I just want to be prepared, and DH and I are having a little debate on who is right and wrong on this subject...I wont tell you who's side is who!

TIA!

Hi
On previous occasions when I've crossed the border with my dd, they did ask her a question or 2. She was 4 at the time.
I've used the kids birth certificates no problem to cross the border.
I don't think you have to show id at your flight check in, you could probably even get your boarding passes online.
I am flying with JetBlue and I have to show id for my son and have to check in at the counter because he's a lap child.

You DO have to show id to board a plane in the US, and if you are from out of the country, they prefer Passports but a drivers license and birth certificate is a minimum.

Keep in mind that a passport is a good investment regardless.. and always the safest way to travel.

The last time we flew out of Buffalo (in May) we did not need to show ID when boarding the plane. This was on Southwest. We did need it for security, but not at the gate. They announced that several times before boarding.
You should be able to print your boarding passes online, but if you cannot do that you usually need ID to check in at the desk.
