Problems with upgrading my DD's ticket...what do you think?

This is such a weird situation but I will try and explain it...when booking our trip thru the DL website if I tried to make our reservation with 5 people it automatically bumped us up to a suite. It made it very impossible to do any booking, so we called DL and sure enough its their policy to put families of 5 or more into at least two rooms or a family suite. I wasnt going for that, so I got the bright idea of booking for 4 of us (me, dh, ds15 and ds12) and then calling the Motel and seeing what they charge for a rollaway. Well, after calling Motel6 and reserving ( a free ) rollaway and not having to pay extra for my dd (kids stay free at Motel6), we went ahead and booked the trip (for 4) thru DL website and then bought a 5 day parkhopper for DD. No problems! Well yesterday we called DL and asked to extend our vacation for one more day, so a total of 7 nights versus 6 and increased our 5-day park hoppers to 6-day. Guess what? You cant upgrade a e-ticket unless you do it at the gate. Here is the problem. When you buy a 5-day park hopper thru disney reservations you can upgrade easily and its VERY cheap (we went from 5day PH at $169 to 6-day PH for $173) yep, $16 for the 4 of us to have another day at DL. They wont let you do that with the e-ticket and they want us to upgrade at the ticket booth and its way more expensive! I tried calling a few different people and finally found someone who gave me an email address and told me to explain my problem and someone would get back with me within a week! omg I dont think I can wait a week for an answer! Why wont they just cancel one ticket and re-issue another?!?! this seems so silly!
Im frustrated with this whole thing and am thinking about not upgrading her ticket and just not going that 6th day and take a $16 loss.
Anyone have any opinions? anyone know what I can do or who I can call to help me out here? am I better off just following their instructions and upgrading at the park?

Why wont they just cancel one ticket and re-issue another?!?! this seems so silly!

They won't cancel one and re-issue the other over the phone with you when you call because that's the policy that is explained when you bought your ticket (somewhere in the Terms and Conditions, I'm guessing). E-tickets are different than other tickets in some very important ways.

When reading the above, it seems to me that you answered your own question though.

...and finally found someone who gave me an email address and told me to explain my problem and someone would get back with me within a week!...

I would send that e-mail.
