Problems with Dunkin Donuts k-cups?

We just got a Keruig and it came with some K-cups and the reuseable filter which I like because I can drink my Trader Joes coffee. My dh loves dunkin donuts and we were going to get some k-cups but several people dh talked to over the weekend said that DD's k-cups ruined their machine & he doesn't want me to get them. I googled "problems with Dunkin Donuts k-cups" and didn't really see much except that appears that Green Mountain Coffee makes them along with several other brands. So I'm having trouble understanding what the trouble is with DD's. Has anyone else had trouble with DD's k-cups? :coffee:

Never heard of that before and we have used several different DD K-cups. I use them at home and in my smaller machine at work.

Never had any problems with the Dunkin k-cups in our Keurig either.

But if he doesn't want to get the k-cups, why not just use the Dunkin ground coffee in the reusable filter? Last year for Christmas, I bought hubby 2 more of the filter baskets, so we have 3 for our "my own k-cup" and that way, so we always have a clean one.

I have heard of problems with doing hot chocolate or other higher sugar k-cups causing issues, but that is only because you need to run just water after brewing anything like that and most people don't.

Ooh, I didn't know this! Thanks for the info. I don't drink the coffee, only hubby does. I use it for tea, hot chocolate and chai.

I have more problems with the my K-cup than with any reg k-cup. The My k-cup sometimes gets grounds on the inside of my machine.

We did actually buy the coffee and use the my k-cup, I was just wondering if what we had heard was a well-known problem or not. I will remember to flush out the Keurig after hot chocolate, thanks for the tip!

The Dunkin Donuts coffee is our favorite. We've use the k cups for at least 2 years with no problems.
Wal Mart sold an off brand called Grover's Corner or Grove Corner, something like that, and those k cups gave us fits! We thought the machine was broken but it was that the cups are a smidgen bigger than regular k cups and the top did not close properly.

We haven't used the DD brand cups but have had problems with the other Donut shop Kcups......clog the needle every time!

Use them all the time no problems here, and I buy the donut shop ones too that they sell everywhere, I like em just the same

I use the my kcup daily with the dunkin donuts coffee (buy the big bag from Sam's) and have not had any issue with clogging. I had no idea they sold DD kcups but it's so easy to use the my Kcup I think I will just stick with it :)

YES I have a problems with Dunkin decaf K cups in my mini Keruig. From the first one I tried to use, it only brewed 1/2 a cup then the grounds are packed in the puncture tube.

This has happened every time I try to use a Dunkin K cup and then takes me half an hour to wash all the grounds out of the machine to get it to work again.

Huge PITA! Guess no Dunkin for me :worried:

We've never had any issues, and husband (and eldest) LOVE Dunkin coffee. I wish they'd use the my k-cup, it would save money, but they don't. We buy the K-cups at Dunkin once a month.

We have had problems with some of the newer designs on other brands of coffee though. The Kcups that are kind of ridgey instead of smooth seem to be more narrow at the base and occasionally the bottom won't pierce, or will pierce on the edge.

I've never seen the point of the hot chocolate & tea K-cups though. Tea has to steep which it can't in the K-cup, and the hot chocolate (imo) is watery. For those items we just put the cocoa mix or tea/tea bag in the mug and use the keurig for hot water. Beverage is yummy, no remembering to flush and it's a heck of a lot cheaper!

We don't use Dunkin a lot because it is a pain to go to DD to buy the K cups, but we do get them every now and then. Never had a problem.

Look for the Melita Javajig at Walmart or Amazon. You fill it with your own coffee like the mykcup but it has filters. No more sludge at the bottom of the cup!

Thanks to a suggestion here on the dis, I put my tea bag directly in the k-cup hole, push the cup setting i want, then watch a perfect cup of tea pour through the machine into my cup. It's way easier and faster than waiting for a tea bag to steep in the cup of hot water and then have to fish it out.

Never had an issue with the DD kcups either.

We didn't have a problem with our Keurig until we bought Dunkin Donut K cups. The machine worked very poorly, but we didn't associate it with the K cup. It got so bad we called Keurig and they sent us a new one because it was still under warranty. Turns out it wasn't the Keurig, it was the Dunkin Donut K cups. They are too full or something and the machine can't push the water through and we only get half a cup. We won't be using them any more. It works fine with any other K cup we buy from Keurig.
