Problems with 14 day UK tickets

Hello all,

Just got back from 14 days at Disney and thought I would share a problem that we had with our tickets just so you're aware that it could happen to you.

We checked in and everything looked fine, dining plan was all on the room key as expected however when we got to the Animal Kingdom on our first day it turned out that our tickets weren't on the room key. After the lovely lady at guest relations spent about 15 mins on the phone to POP they established that they were in the wrong and we'd paid for the tickets. She gave us 2 "no strings attached" fastpasses and let us into the park via the guest relations and told us to go back when we were leaving.

Unfortunately this wasn't as good as it could have been as we couldn't get any more fastpasses as we didn't have tickets! So we decided to leave just before 12 and get the ticket problems sorted as we had a 4:30 fantasmic reservation at Hollywood Studios. The lady at guest relations hadn't managed to sort the problem so it was back to POP.

The man at the concierge desk at POP wasn't helpful at all, and after making us go back to the room to get our voucher which says we've paid for the tickets he spoke to his supervisor and attempted to get the problem sorted. It seems as though because they can't sell the 14 day tickets in the US they can't add them onto room keys at a later stage.

Their solution to this was to check us out of the hotel and back in for 13 nights instead. First problem with this was obviously the charges we'd built up got taken out of the bank account much earlier than we expected and ended up as another transaction on the bank account. Fortunately with Nationwide this didn't make any difference, but that might not be the case with everyone.

Secondly they can only put a set number of DDP credits on depending on your reservation. We'd picked up Luau tickets so had already used 4 table service credits but we hadn't used any counter service credits. So we gained 2 table credits and they agreed to re-credit our counter service once we'd had lunch (another queue to get that done!).

Thirdly they can only put a 10 day US ticket onto the room keys. So we each had 1x 10 day tickets onto the room keys followed by 4x 1 day complimentary tickets! Fortunately there are only 2 of us, but this would be horrendous for a family of 4! All the tickets had to be named and numbered to make sure we didn't use any twice or have problems with the finger scans.

So anyway, long story short is to check your tickets are on the room keys and hopefully they can fix it from the outset. We'll be sending a letter to Disney UK to highlight the problem and see if they can get it sorted. It seems like such a silly problem that could be easily fixed.

Hope you get some joy bringing this to Disney UK's attention :)

We're just back today - and we had EXACTLY the same problem. However, ours was spotted at check in.

The Cast Member at Pop said it was a regular problem with "that particular travel company" - which is Disney UK LOL.

Anyway, after about 10 minutes of her on the phone, they reissued different cards, this time with our 14 day Ultimate Passes on, and we had no problems.

I would reiterate what Lil_Me says though - make sure you check before leaving check in, that your park tickets are on your Key To The World.

I'm surprised that some CMs noticed it and others didn't.
You would think that if it was as as regular an occurance as stated by the CM seen by Geeg then there would have been some sort of memo or email sent out to highlight it to the receptionists.
Hope anyone with a Disney UK reservation doesnt have too many problems with this.

We had the same problem in 2007 and only found out when we tried to get into MK! We were given a ticket to use for the day and then we had to go back to the resort to sort it out. The first time we tried to sort it out it was late at night and the CM that was trying to help us didn't really know what to do, so we ended up having to go back in the morning to sort it out! Eventually they ended up giving us a 10 day ticket each and single day tickets!

We've had this problem for the last 3 yrs and have not really bothered with it - on check in we have been told that as you can not buy tickets bigger than 10 days in the US they can not put the ultimate tickets on to the room key. To save all the palarver we have simply carried around both our tickets and our keys. Hasn't bothered us at all

Is this a new problem? We have always managed to put our passes onto our room keys, the last 2 years we have put 21 days passes onto them and before that we put the 14 days tickets on there. :confused3

Strange - had ours put on OK in 2007. We are split staying this July and have e mailed Disney about having the 14 day ultimate tickets put on our room keys and they said take along the first hotel tickets to the second hotel so the remaining days can be put on. But to ask a question - how do you know on check in whether the tickets are on or not, is it a case of asking?

OK So I have 5 days at OKW but with 21 days ultimate tickets... anyone know how this will work? Will I get separate ticketing for park entry as my park entry is longer (by a long way) than my on site stay?

As others have said we didn't have any problems adding our 14 day tickets to the room keys. We also had them split over 3 different reservations booked at 2 onsite hotels all this was done without too much hastle. Sorry to hear you had a problem, by the comments from others it seems very hit and miss as to whether you get them on the key or not :confused3

When you check-out you keep your key card, this then acts as your park entry ticket for the rest of your holiday :)

We are also in the no problems camp,we all had our 21 Day Ultimate & DDP put on our cards at check-in.
SD:thumbsup2

Thank guys for bringing this to our attention - we have got 14day ultimate tickets x 4 but we are only staying at POP for the first 6 days then offsite...so this keycard thing will be ok to keep as proof for the rest of the 8 days? Don't they ever issue with hard tickets? I think i'd prefer tickets.Sorry to sound thick but have never stayed onsite b4.

Thanks to the OP for this valuable piece of information. But just to bump Lizzy Lemon's question: ''How do they check??'' is it something that they can 'just see on the system' when they swpiye your KTTW?? :confused3

This will be our first time onsite and don;t to have the problems others have had on our first day (which will be DH birthday!!)

Thanks in advance.

OOh didn't even know you could do this - last time we went we carried room cards and separate tickets - so we don't need to do this then?
