Problems using gift cards for prepayment?

I tried booking the Wishes Dessert Party twice and both times they told me that they cannot take a gift card to pay for it. I also tried booking tickets with the Youth Program and was told that I could not use a gift card to pay for those either. They needed a credit card for both things. It's making me very nervous because I have TONS of money in gift cards and I'm wondering where else i will NOT be able to use them. Can I use them at the restaurants? I booked ADR's at Le Cellier, Crystal Palace, 1900 and Tusker House.. Do they take them there??

I think the problem with using them for reservations is that if you do not show up for some of these things they charge your credit card, but with a gift card they have no way to reserve that amount of money on it ahead of time. I don't think you will have a problem using them to pay for the actual meals.

ETA: But I don't know why they wouldn't for the tickets.

You shouldn't have had any problem using them for the Dessert Party or the tickets, since they would charge the full amount at the time of purchase. Sounds like the CM may not have known what they were doing or didn't want to be bothered.

You should have no problem using the other gift cards, except for some of the retailers in Epcot and possibly at DTD.
