Problem with adult using other adult ticket?

My family and parents are going to WDW in Sept. My three children and I are flying early in the morning, my parents later that day, and my husband a few days later. We have two rooms at POP; my parents and my 10-year-old son are on one registration, and my husband, my other two children, and I are on the other reservation.

I just realized that I will not have my 10-year-old son's ticket until my parents check in. Would it be possible for him to use the ticket with his dad's name? Then when my husband arrives, could he use the ticket with my son's name? They are both adult tickets.

There is no way my parents can come the same time as us.

Or could I check in for my parents?? I just thought of that.

in your name, or theirs? If it is in your name, then you can check your parents in. Otherwise, no, you cannot. But I don't see why your DS couldn't use your DH's ticket, assuming that DH is listed on the ressie from the 1st day you arrive. It would have your DH's name on it, but as long as your DS uses his fingers for the 1st biometric scan, you should be fine. Or you could let the kids swim at the resort and just relax for awhile until your parents arrive later that day. You may be a little tired from traveling anyway!!:hippie:

I think it would be fine as long as your son and husband keep the same tickets for the whole trip due to the whole finger scan thing. However, I would imagine this kind of thing happens to others, and that the front desk cms at Pop will know what to do. You could always ask them at check in how you handle this. Either way, it will be fine I am sure. After all, I woud imagine if nothing else they can issue the park ticket you paid for as separate, off of a room key.

First of all..you cannot check in for your parents. I am gathering that your tickets are part of a package deal (room, tickets, and meal plan)? If that is the case, your son will not have his ticket until Mom & Dad check in. Does your husband have the same amount of days on his ticket as you and your sons do? Is their name the same? If these two questions are yes, then you should have no problem, if not, your best bet is to call Disney, explain the situation....you may have to switch the names in the rooms.....your son will be on your room ressie and your husband with your Mom & Dad.

Good Luck and let us know how you make out with this.

it matters if they have the same name. as long as DH and DS have the same ticket, starting on the same check in day, and each uses the others ticket for the entire trip, it should be doable. They don't ask for ID when going thru the turnstile. They ask to scan your fingers. If your finger code matches the ticket..and it would... it will work. The OP is not trying to cheat the system, and if they switch her DH to the other room there will be a charge for the 3rd adult in the room. I wouldn't do that. ;)

I agree about seeing if you could switch your DH to your Mom and Dad's ressie.

Let us know what happens.

Does the adult ticket (Key to the world with dining package) for a 10-year-old child look different than an adult ticket for an actual adult?

My key to the world only said "adult" on it. Does a 10-year-old's adult ticket state his age or age range??

I don't think it will be a problem since they're both adult tickets and you're all checking in on the same day with the same ticket. Explain it to the cm though just in case, I'm sure they can help you.

I wouldn't get mixed up with the switching reservations or switching tickets. If your son is on the other room reservation, can't he just check in for himself? Why does it have to be your mother and father checking in first--if they're all listed on the reservation, I don't think it would be a problem.

I arrived several hours before my parents last trip and checked in for all three of us so we could get a good room, and then I got my card/ticket without a problem. I'm 26, but since 10 is considered an adult to Disney, he should just stand in line and check in to his room!

Have a wonderful trip! :)

A 10 year old is an adult to Disney when buying theme park tickets, but for room reservations an adult has to be 18 years old to check in. That is why kids under 18 are free in a Disney resort room, but they charge extra for more than 2 adults in a room. A child of 10-17 cannot make a room ressie at WDW, nor can they check in! Really, just let the "child" use the fathers ticket and the father use the "childs" ticket. They are both adult tickets, as long as they start on the same date and are for the same # of days, it will not be a problem. It is really pretty simple. But be sure that they each use the same ticket that they started with each day, or the finger scans won't match. Just like they wouldn't match if any other two people in the group switched tickets.

Uh oh... if Disney only knew I've been making all our reservations since I was 14! (DM would just hand me the credit card and the phone.) :rolleyes1

Thanks for the info, though. That does make sense!

Yes, I'm sure you made the call to get the ressie!!! But I am also sure that the ressie was actually in your parents name!!!! I know that there are several "kids" on these boards that plan and schedule their families Disney trips!! I think it's great!!!:cool1:

How old are your other children? Are any at the age where their entry is free? That way you don't have to worry about their ticket so I'd move them to the grandparents reservation and put your son on your ticket.

Also it sounds like you DH and DS10 have tickets of the same length, why? If your husband isn't arriving for days, shorten his ticket. Even if you're getting the Free DDP, you are only required to buy a one day ticket, so you can order a shorter ticket for him. DDP will still last through your reservation.

If you moved a child under 10 to your parents reservation worst case scenario is that you'd have to buy them a one day ticket to get them into a park before your parents arrive, that's about $50.

If their isn't a free admission child in the group. I'd call Disney and ask how to get your son's ticket for park entrance that day. Don't tell them what you are considering, but really listen to the options they give. They may say buy the one day and they'll credit you back upon your parents check in. I have no idea so go to the source and let us know what options they give.

Thanks to everyone for their great ideas.

The problem resolved itself yesterday morning when SWA released more tickets at the cheaper rate for the flight my children and I are on. I switched my parents and they are on the same flight as I am.

I just love disboards and all your help!!!
