Problem with Add-On -- Any Advice for Feedback to DVC?

Any advice on how or whether to request DVC to add some symmetry to the charge vs. credit process?

Well, I see that there was a problem in when the DVC people did their part of putting the credit back to your card. And that delay, which seems to be a people thing rather than a card/credit thing, is a problem.

But it seems the symmetry you speak of is more along the lines of you wishing charges and credits, once submitted, took the same amount of time.

And I don't think that will ever happen.

I don't profess to know WHY credits just take longer than charges, but they DO. And it's not on the merchant's end, it's on the credit card company/bank's end. It's what happened constantly when I worked at amazon.com, and we simply had NO control over what the bank/cc company did with it after we clicked on the "refund" button (can't remember if there was such a button, was probably "submit" or "enter", but it sounds better :) ).

As far as I know, there's NOTHING a merchant can do to get that processing to go faster.

And it also depends on the card/bank. I bank with Washington Mutual, and really never see a delay in anything (nor do I usually see large funds being held when merchants place a "hold" for things). Other people do, they see chunks of money being held for a week or more, and falling off LONG after the actual charge has gone through...refunds come through for me very quickly, but they take ages for other banks. I'm sure the same would happen if I had a CC.

And Chase, the bank behind the Disney Visa card, seems to be a bit problematic in ALL areas, so it doesn't surprise me that a requested refund will be processed for the longer (vs shorter) period of time than with another.

We had an issue once at OKW where they double charged our bill for the stay to the tune of twice about $1500. We found out about it when we went to Olivias for lunch and our card was denied as this amount caused us to be over our limit. They did try to get it corrected by calling the card company but it took a few days. The only way it was fixed was that they raised our limit.

I don't expect Disney to have any responsibility for what happens once the credit is submitted to the CC -- that is clearly out of their control. My symmetry problem concerns what Disney does in-house. If they make a mistake on April 26 and identify it less than 24 hours later, they should not wait until May 7 to submit the correction to the CC company.

Instead of asking for symmetry in the charge/credit process from Disney, perhaps what I really mean is correcting errors on a timely basis.

CC companies are looking for any excuse to do that!
