I am a bit confused to some reservations that I have made.. Today, I added on to my reservation and stated please use my 2010 points. Then after she gave me my reservation number, she stated you have 66 points left for your 2010 year.
Now I had specifically said to use my 2010 points instead of using the 2011 points. (Which I think should be commom sense)
So she took points from 2011 and then told me that the transaction was final and she could not change anything at that point.
This seems wrong to me, since the points eventually Do expire even after banking them.
Also, it just seems ridiculous that I was adding onto a reservation and only needed to use 16 points to modify. Why take from 2011? When I have 66 points in my 2010 year???
This is not the 1st time this has happened to me, It makes me feel that this is a scheme in which DVC members lose points....

Call back now and ask to talk with a supervisor. Tell him/her the issue.

They can fix it - happened to me in August when I made a reservation. It took a few days for my account to show my points correctly, but it all worked out in the end.

I'm a newer member and have only made a few reservations so far, but every time I have called they told me they were going to use my oldest points first. I think the person you had today made a mistake and didn't know how to fix it or sadly just didn't want to take the time. Call back and ask the MS person you get to fix it, if they cant ask to speak with a manager.

They should use your oldest points first, but sometimes even when I ahve called to make reservations, you don't always get the greatest CM. I would call back ask for supervisor and insist they fix it, and not stop until they do, especially if you specificaly asked them to be sure to use the 2010 points.

Had you banked your 2010 points yet?
If not, you would need to bank them first.
While most CMs would do that, this one might not have known to.

Regardless, call back and walk through with them.

I had the opposite situation-- a reservation for September that I want to use 2011 points, not my banked ones (I might have to cancel it). In order to get the system to handle it, the CM had to contact a supervisor to unbank my 2010 points, rebook the reservation with 2011 points and then rebank 2010.

This is what I was thinking. If the reservation is in your 2011 UY and you had not banked the 2010 UY points you wanted used, then the CM couldn't use them. You must tell them to do that first.

This happens more often than it should. You need to tell them what to do, check on them after they have done it, and get transfered to a Team Lead if they do it wrong. You might also report the issue to the DVC Satisfaction Team.

In any transaction I have ever made, the oldest points are always used first, unless it involves two different resorts where the 11/7 months come into play. The transaction is not final. It can be changed, so call back, and speak to someone else. If you don't get satisfaction, ask for a supervisor.

If you call back they will fix it. I had a different situation happen but was told it could not be fixed and then when I talked with a supervisor...everything was fine.
