I have a new problem now! My first name on my passport and driver's lisence is "Anita" but no one ever calls me that and I registered for the GADGADD in the name I always use which is "Nia."

I am sure if this was a "Dave/David" or a Steve/Stephen" it would not be a big deal but it is not as common of a short form.

Will Disney give me a hard time about redeeming my GADGADD vouchers because of my name? I do have a photo ID for work which say "Nia" and of course the last name - which is hyphenated and a bit unusual - is the same on everything...

Actually, ALL of my official ids have my full name of David.
I prefer, and introduce myself as Dave, but since my birth certificate is what is used for obtaining alot of these IDs, I use the name as stated on my birth certificate.

I was very careful to register my husband for GAD as "Michael", though no one calls him that except his Mom :) It did say you would have to present matching photo ID. Do you have anything at Nia would be on?

It is such a natural mistake for me as NO ONE even knows my real name. My personalised lisence plate on my vehicle says Nia - everyone calls me Nia.

My work ID says Nia and it is a photo government ID since I work for a Child Welfare Agency so I am not going to stress over it. I am going to bring all my ID and make the assumption that Disney will be reasonable. It's not like I don't have any ID - it is just a short form. Anyone going to offer reassurance - or just more people who want to point out how they did not make the same mistake with theirs????

I do apologize, it's just that in the world we live in, especially if you travel at all, you know how stringent the airlines are these days with having your correct legal name (including Middle now!), that I just use our full legal names on everything. If you have this work ID I'm sure you'll be fine. :goodvibes

Well, I wasn't worried about this until now. I signed up on January 2 for our project (my 2 DDs and me), before I had read so much on the Dis about the requirements. My youngest DD goes by Katie, but her birth certificate (which I will be bringing to be able to use her voucher) says Katherine. Do y'all think we'll have trouble?

It just never occurred to me as I am able to make her plane reservations, etc. under Katie, since she doesn't need ID due to her age.

Thanks!

This is what Disney has on their website. As long as you bring your Government Issued Photo ID you should be fine.

What do I need to bring to the theme park to redeem my voucher?

To redeem your ticket at a Walt Disney World® or Disneyland® theme park, you must bring a valid photo ID along with your voucher. Valid ID is one of the following: valid Government Issued Passport, valid Driver's License including a photo, or valid Government Issued Photo ID. For children under 18 who do not have any of the previous listed IDs, a copy of a Birth Certificate is acceptable. School IDs or children security IDs are not deemed Government Issued Photo IDs and will not be accepted. Please note: the Guest whose name is on the voucher must be present at the time of ticket redemption (for example, parents cannot redeem tickets for their children in their absence.)

I think it would be okay. I registered my son as Gabe and his "official" name is Gabriel. Just bring your work ID and I would think it should work.:thumbsup2

I registered my husband under Rick but his full name is Richard. I'm hoping it works. I'm not going to stress about it.

I registered my Ds (12) as BJ. His name is actually Bruce. I thought about the same thing. I signed him up as BJ. His birth certificate will obviously say Bruce so i went back on the website and made another volunteer entry and unchecked the one that said BJ. It would be my luck we get to orlando and they would give us a hard time:eek:. Otherwise why would they state that children would need a birth certificate and a school Id wouldnt work?
Better safe than really sorry!:thumbsup2

I registered my husband as Danny and his legal name is Daniel. Hopefully it's not a big deal at the gate. I can't imagine anyone giving us a hassle since it's a common nickname.

I don't think you should really have a problem. People always have some sort of shortened form that they they use of their names.

After reading all this, I just went and changed my son's name on the volunteer site. We go to our GAD tomorrow. He likes to use my husband's last name even though it's not his legal one. He'll hyphenate it at times, so that he doesn't feel left out being the only one that isn't a Gomes in our household.

I gave my cerificate in - with the name "Nia" and my passport with the name "Anita." The Cm looked everything over - she said something like - "I assume "Anita" IS "Nia?" I said - "yes - it's a short form - see here is my key to world card which says "Nia" It was no problem! Those GADGADD fastpasses were great!

I don't think you should have a problem, even the person that invented Mickey Mouse used a nickname. Walt's full name would be Walter and I am sure his driver license said Walter.
