Probably odd question RE: Disney World/land

I think I've read that it was named "Walt Disney World" in honor of everything Walt had done.

Disneyland opened in 1955. When Walt purchased as the huge amount of land in Florida the project became known as Disney World because of the huge size of the property compared to what they have in Disneyland. After Walt’s death the project was renamed Walt Disney World in honor of Walt and opened in 1971. In the decades that followed they have added other resorts around the world Tokyo (1983), Paris (1992), and Honk Kong (2005). No other resort has been named "world" because none approach WDW in size and scale; additionally the world establishes WDW as Disney's flagship resort.
