Probably a dumb question about CS cheeseburgers

This is probably a very dumb question...

I notice that most of the counter-service menus are rather limited to just a handful of items.

I'm wondering about "custom" orders -- specifically, for those places that offer cheeseburgers, will they hold the cheese upon request?

yes.. they can accomodate that request.

Yes, they will hold the cheese.

The burgers are served plain and you "fix" them to your liking at the ample fixins bar.

Yup, they will hold the cheese and you can also get a dairy free bun if that is part of the reason for not wanting cheese.

The buns aren't already dairy-free?

A dairy bun won't hurt me, I just personally dislike the taste of cheese on a burger.

Nope. All the hamburger and hotdog buns have dairy ingredients. It's a bummer for us non-dairy folks, because the dairy free ones provided are also gluten, etc. free. So, they don't taste like much of anything..pretty bad actually.

You can even ask that a double cheeseburger be made into a single burger if you want (if its not on menu).

Most boards when you get there will have the regulare burger listed as well in smaller print areas.. They serve both but Disney likes to sell you the Cheese. It will be cheaper for a regular burger and you can also hold the fries or whatever else it may come with for more savings to get something else you might like better.

Makes me glad that might son got over his dairy allergy. I wouldn't even think to avoid hamburger hot dog buns.

Is it safe to assume that the buns don't have eggs? (My son still has an egg allergy, but I think he will be okay with baked products by the time of our trip, he is being tested again soon)

Thanks everyone for the responses.

I would check still. Every counter service location has a notebook of ingredients for each item. Just tell the CM at the register and they will get a manager to bring out the notebook, or they may have it themselves. Everyone has been extremely helpful and pleasant. Also, if you have any table service reservations you can make note of your allergies on your reservation so that they can be better prepared, or just be sure and tell them when you arrive. If it's a buffet, the chefs can walk you through and let you know what is 'safe' and what isn't. They are also pretty good about preparing special items.

Congratulations to your son on outgrowing his dairy allergy! After nine years of having to avoid dairy, I'm starting to be able to eat it again in small portions. I hope he outgrows the egg allergy too! Best wishes!:goodvibes

You can connect with Disney before hand and they will send you a list of foods that have common allergens and the alternatives available. For table service restaurants you can note it on your ressie and then chat with the chef. You should be able to find the allergy email contact info on the DISAbilities board.

The regular buns are disgusting too, you are not missing much.

His allergies used to be severe -- like Epi-pen severe. But he got over the dairy allergy pretty quickly.

When he has "accidentally" had eggs baked into something, recently, he has been fine. Blood tests show he is still allergic to eggs, but the doctor thinks he can now eat baked goods. The doctor just wants to schedule him to eat a piece of cake in the office under supervision.

I'm hopeful that he can actually eat the birthday cake at his own birthday this year.

And it will be much easier when we only have to avoid peanuts, and actual cooked eggs.

Some CS places even have self serve kiosks for ordering. You can configure the order however you want, including sides. Saved us a lot of time at Pecos Bill, since no one was using the self serve lines.
