Let me try again - If we don't start making dining reservations or hotel reservation until 2 mos before our trip - how hard is it to get what you want?

We want to go in early Dec or late Jan - but can't start planning until Oct or even maybe Nov. We just can't put any money into it right now bc we're not positive DH can take the time off work.

Anyone have experience w/ a late start? :confused3

You may have a hard time getting last minute reservations in Dec just because of the popularity of the holiday season, but in late Jan, you should have little to no problems.

Welcome back!

i just called the other day for saturday dinner reservations at blue bayou for a month from now and had no problems. i'm not an expert though. :)

You can make most ressie's without putting money down and cancel if need be. Busy seasons the ressie's are harder to come by, so earlier the better but you really should not have much problem unless you wait to the last minute.

Most hotels allow 48 hours cancellation policy so you can reserve w/ CC and cancel up t the 48 hour window w/out penalty. It doesn't cost anything to make Disney Dining ressies. Go for it, plan and book now and then if he can get off work, you won't end up at a dump to sleep in. If you have to cancel, that option is also still there. FWIW, I booked my hotel stays for Oct and January back in late July/early August, and I had a hard time getting any decent rate in October.
Good luck!

Mid week in early December is very slow at the parks, you would have a good shot at getting what you want as far as a hotel goes. As far as dining, you can't even make ressies until 60 days ahead, so you aren't too late at all yet.

Sorry, I just reread your post and you are looking at slower times of the month so no need to panic. There will probably a lot of rooms available.
1st week of Dec is candlelight, but other than that it should be okay.

Dining at Dl is not as crazy as WDW. I often get reservations at Storytellers the morning I go. Even if you can only get really late reservations, you can show up any time earlier and they will get you in, you just may have to wait a little while. There is a small grassy area area outside of Storytellers which is very kid-friendly if you have to wait for a table.

We are going in November and I was able to make all PS at the restaurants and times we wanted no problemo! We booked our room through AMA at the room only rate with 4th night free so we had to pay the room off entirely before we go.

but i didnt really want to start a new thread since it was sort of related. what places would you suggest making reservations for? it'll be just my FI (husband then i guess :) ) and myself. we'll be in DLR and CA October 25th, 27th, & 28th. I've already reserved dinner at Blue Bayou on the 27th but thought about doing some character meals too. I'm a bit lost.

We planned a last minute trip this June, and it wasn't fun! LOL It really depends on where you want to stay and how much you want to spend. Espeically for a more of a busy time. We found less availability of course. Prices were higher since it was more last minute. But it was still doable!
