Have you had any experience w/ this? I found out today that although I'm not a good candidate for Lasik, PKR is an alternative. The big downside for me seems to be that I'll have no clue as to how long it will take to heal!! :confused3
Any thoughts or info would be appreciated. Thanks!

This is your lcuky day!!! My Dh had PRK done last week! We had the actual procedure done on Monday it took about 30 mins. They numbed him up really good and he felt fine right after. About two hours later the numbing drops wore off. His eyes felt super scratchy and he couldn't open them at all. He was given precocet(sp) and motrin for the pain so he took some of that. He also had to take refresh eye drops every half hour and four times a day he had to take two other eye drops. Tuesday he when in for his first follow up, he still couldn't open his eyes and was pretty drowsy from the meds but the doc said that was normal and everything looked fine. They also gave hiim some eye drops that helped with the pain as well. He slept most of the day when we got home. Wednesday he was starting to feel better, he could finally open his eyes and he actually drove for about 5 mins! Thursday he was really feeling good, he drove some more and was pretty much back to his cheerful self. Friday he had one more doc visit, he visit was 20/20 in one eye and 20/15 in the other. He drove home and over the weekend got back to his normal routine. His vision is still slightly blurred when reading close up and he has to wear sunglasses outside but that should take of itself in the next month. He also has to take steroid drops for the next month and use the refresh at least four times a day. He is thrilled with the results and says that the few days of discomfort were totally worth it. I should say that he got his done through the Navy and they only do PRK and not lasik. Our friend had it done last year and she totally loves it too. Her experience was basically the same as DH's. Good Luck!!

thanks for the post! Now I know what they mean by the "discomfort" that I may experience. I hope I will heal that quickly; if so, it DOES sound worth it!

Yikes!!! I just read my first post, please forgive all my grammar and spelling mistakes!! Dh is doing super well almost two weeks out from his procedure and he highly recommends it. I am still getting used to seeing him without glasses, that is going to take a little while. :lmao: Good Luck with whatever you choose to do! pixiedust:
