We are headed to Disney in Sept/Oct 2018 & starting our planning. We’re gonna book a private vip tour for 1 day of our trip. Planning 8 hrs. Youngest child will be 4 & his 1st time to Disney. For those who’ve recently done a vip tour - what’s the best combo of parks (MK & AK, MK & EP). We want to include MK bc he’ll be able to do everything there except Space Mountain (height). We’re not planning on doing Mickey’s Halloween party. What are overall tips you could share? Thanks in advance!

We have not done this but tagged along w/ a friend for half a day earlier this year. They did MK first til about lunch then moved over to AK. We were there for the MK part. The guide was awesome! She was so sweet and helpful and was discussing little known facts etc. Our kids are older so we did not hit anything in fantasyland, but we did Space Mtn multiple times, BTMRR, Splash, 7 Dwarfs, Haunted Mansion, Pirates, and more. Basically she took us through the FP line at each. We could set the schedule and go where we wanted whichever rides however many times.

I would personally pick MK and AK....at AK you'll now get into Pandora with this which will be well worth it. Enjoy!

We did a private VIP tour two summers ago and went to three parks in 8 hours. We started at Epcot, moved on to HS and ended in MK.The guide picked us up at 8:30 am from our resort(Beach Club) and drove us to Epcot. Our children were teens at the time, so some different interests from a 4 year old. Toy Story Land will be newly open when you visit. I would head there with the VIP guide. I would also do a quick stop at AK to experience Pandora.

We did the tour on a 13 day trip, so we had time to do rides on our own too. This is what we did:
Epcot

Test Track, Soarin', Frozen ride, Met Anna & Elsa

HS

RocknRoller Coaster x2
ToT x2
TSMM x2
Star Tours
Met Chewbaca & the other Star Wars guy

MK

got a quick snack
Mine Train x2
Splash
Space x2
Haunted Mansion
Pirates
VIP Parade viewing on top of train station

From my experience, I can tell you what I would do differently if I were do it a second time.
Do the VIP tour on our first day.
Meet our guide at our first park instead of our resort.
Start later in the day. We went in August and they recommended starting early because of heat and afternoon showers.
Make sure to put all request for character meets in ahead of time. The VIP guides can only get you in with FP meet & greets, but sometimes with advanced planning, they can work magic.

I would look at the Tier 1 attractions at EP and AK and decide from there. If you have any interest in FOP, I would go to AK on your VIP day. If you have more interest in doing 2 or 3 Tier 1 rides in EP, I would go there. You can also do a 3 park split if you want to focus your time in MK and then just do the Tier 1 rides in EP and AK. The VIP guide will be able to get you on FOP, Nav'i, TT, Soarin' and FEA pretty quickly. Then you can save other rides for your non-VIP days if you are planning on doing the parks without the guide on other days. You should also think about how you can best utilize the guide for any nighttime shows you want to see because they can get you VIP viewing spots. Others tips - don't plan any TS meals on your VIP day. It takes up too much of your VIP touring time.

We grabbed a quick snack while on our tour. We definitely didn't want to waste time eating a sit down meal.

Thank you!

We do a VIP tour each trip and spend one day at DHS/EP, another at AK/MK. Let your guide know once you meet him/her what your goals are and they'll formulate a plan to maximize your time. If you're interested in shows or parades, let them know upfront as they do need to contact their office to get a time for your group to ensure seating in the VIP area. Go and have a blast. Our guide (Homer) is like part of our family now we've been touring with him so long.

I want to do this next year during our trip to celebrate my mom's 75th. A few questions:

  • How early do you need to book?
  • Do you pay in full at time of booking?
  • Is there anything special they could do for my mom? I know she wants this to be for the grandkids, but I want her to have something special too.
  • What times would you recommend? I don't want to waste time at TS, so thinking like 10am to 5pm? Thoughts?
