Not sure if this should be in disAbilities or Transportation, but here we are.

We normally drive a few times a year down to Disney from Phllly, so transportation isn't an issue. We happen to be flying in on our next trip in January and I was wondering if anyone had an experiences securing private transportation while someone in your party used a wheelchair.

My wife can transfer into a car with little effort and the wheelchair folds up small enough, but I was curious if anyone had any firsthand experience with a service that you might recommend or NOT recommend.

Should fit in an Uber XL if you don't have a ton of luggage, or any rental SUV. Ours does.

Yeah the problem with an Uber IS the SUV. Transferring into a car is easy. Transferring into an SUV is more of a show for the people watching as I help her in. And depending on the actual vehicle and how far up and back the seat is, it might not work out at all.

Since there is no way to ask for an actual car from Uber/Lyft, we were hoping to secure transportation before arriving.

Ours would fit in a regular rental car, if we put bags in the backseat. That's an option. I've always had my pick of rental cars in Orlando. The problem with regular Uber, is that something like a Prius isn't going to work.

I have done both Uber and a car service. My mom has a hard time getting into a SUV, but we make it work because we have a couple suitcases and the wheelchair to transport. We used Uber last September with the SUV and everything fit fine. This trip I am using a car service (Cast and Crew Transportation) and I asked if they could have a little step stool to help with the step up and they said they could absolutely have one and that their SUVs have running boards to help with the step. I am sure my Mom will probably still need a little help in, but I am hoping this will work well for us.
