Our extended family (16 people) is cruising in a few weeks and my in-laws are planning to set up a private photo session with Shutters. Could someone please share their experience about wehn/where the photos were taken and any tips. Thanks!

DW and I had our 25th anniversary pictures done in a private session. We were taken to some of the closed off rooms on the ship and recreated our wedding pictures from our cruise wedding back in '86. We scheduled this with the photog to happen the hour before his regular shift started on a formal night, so that we were already dressed for the evening. Back in '11 when we did this, Shutters did not charge for his time but now they do; we just tipped the photog for his time.

I assume it was a cash tip?

If you don't mind me asking, how much did the private session cost and how long did it last?

Our extended family made arrangements with Shutters to take our pictures on the grand staircase in the atrium on formal night just before we went into dinner. That way everyone was dressed up and the kids' clothes didn't have food spills on them. There were also three branches within the family tree that had separate pictures taken that night. As one group was ready, the photographers took their pictures, and when all 48 of us were there we all had the big group picture taken. Great-grandma also had her picture taken with the little ones -- parents got them into place and when the photographer was ready the parents ran out of the frame. It was a real trick getting the babies' picture taken before they crawled away.

Shutters did not charge extra. I think it depends on the size of the group as to whether they'll schedule an appointment for you on the staircase. This was a few years ago on the Magic and their policy/photographers may be different.

Charge $0.
Tip yes.
About 15 pictures and 30 minutes for us.

Were the 15 pictures included in the "full photos" CD? I'm thinking about doing this my upcoming cruise as well!
