hi there!

Can someone give me an idea of what type of food you can get on Private dining?? We have a wishes cruise booked and know this is an option - would you recommend this? If you have done this, was it worth the extra cost? What did you order? Is there a menu that someone could post?

I have thought about ordering a birthday cake (it's my DH birthday the week before)?

If it makes a difference we're leaving from the GF.

Appreciate any help you all can give!

DH and I took a wishes cruises from the GF in Feb. It was our anniversary, and I ordered one of those really small castle cakes from the GF bakery. It was delivered to the boat right before we took off (we ended up eating it in the room though later). Anyway, I believe you can order anything from the room service menu at the GF to be brought to the boat (at least, I think that is what I remember the cm saying when I made the reservation).

The cake was tasty, but I felt bad for paying as much as I did for it based on the size...but it was pretty and good. There is a pic of one that looks like the one we got on the cake pics thread. Ours was chocolate ganache on the inside.

i don't know if you know this or not, but they do have sodas/water in a cooler and snacks like chips and popcorn on the boat as part of the base price you pay. If you don't eat them while on your cruise, make sure to take some with you when you leave. You can eat them later and did pay for them! ;)

Here is a copy of the private dining menu from allears.net (it is kinda old).

Hope some of this helps! :)

Thank you so much - this really helps!! I think cakes from the GF Bakery are supposed to be some of the best in WDW?

Hear what you're saying about the snacks etc - do you just help yourself?

You're welcome! I'm glad it helps.

Yeah, I have heard that, too. The cake we had was very good. It was very rich and tasty!

Since we hadn't eaten any of the snacks at the end of the cruise, I asked the driver if we could take them back with us. She was like, "Sure, help yourselves! The more you take, the less I have to clean up!" (She was really nice, and it was a very fun experience). We had a lot for our car ride home the next day.

I'll remember that - :thanks: !! Though it's not that we won't have eaten enough whilst we're in WDW! :rotfl2: Like you say - we've paid for them!!

Ordered a castle cake for my daughter and son-in-law's first anniversary last time we were in WDW. The cake is small but was DELICIOUS, and my daughter couldn't get over how beautiful it was! It really is a nice touch!! Hope your DH has a very happy b'day celebration!

As mentioned just about anything is available thru Private Dining, but I would steer away from any plated items. The pontoon boats have a very small center table that is not really made for full plated dining off. I would suggest sandwiches, fruit & cheese platters, salsa and chips and dips.
It is also difficult to keep hot foods warm on the cruise so buffalo wings, chicken strips, and pizza are usually cold by time you get to them.

:thanks: It's not every birthday you can spend in WDW!

Thanks for the info!! :thumbsup2 - The more I think, the more I'm leaning towards a cake , or nothing at all - just the snacks!!
