Printing up boarding pass at resort

I fly Southwest all the time. I just add the boarding pass to my mobile wallet and use my phone. It saves paper and is much easier and there is nothing to print out that way!

This is the most convenient way. I do it with Southwest all the time.

Just got back from a weekend at BLT and was shocked to find hanging from our door an envelope with boarding passes and luggage tags in it on the morning of our departure. This was the first time we went without luggage (only carryons as it was just a weekend trip) so perhaps the fact that I didn't check luggage at bell services the night before triggered the envelope on our door. I'm guessing that is the case, but definitely a surprise to see the boarding passes - even though we didn't need them with the electronic boarding passes on our phones.

Flew American Airlines.

My experience with boarding passes and Southwest. In 2017, each person in our family had a separate Confirmation Number, each of us was able to check in and receive a text with your boarding pass. In 2016, when all 4 of us flew with one confirmation number, I could only get one boarding pass sent to my phone. May have changed, but that was my issue last year.

I've had the front desk / lobby concierge print boarding passes countless times at WDW resorts. Bay Lake, Saratoga, Boardwalk, Grand Floridian...never been refused. Sometimes cast members would hand us keyboard to enter a password. But these days, the airlines we use seem to allow check-in just using the cryptic confirmation number plus something like a zip code or phone number.

I was flying solo this time so that thought didn't even occur to me. Next year is a family trip -booking for 7 people so i'll have to see what happens with that.

My wife and I fly WN all the time, and are usually on one PNR. We log into the southwest app on our phones and it displays our boarding passes without any problem. Don't think I have tried adding them into passbook via text with multi-party PNR's though.

...and a warning....

TWICE, two separate trips, we have tried to use boarding passes issued by the WL "on the door" system. TWICE, two separate trips, they have been rejected at MCO as "would not scan".

Today? We check in to the airline on the Web. GO to the Concierge. Given an airline, and a conf number? THEY will print boarding passes. Boarding passes that actually WORK. No "will not scan" garbage that will send you back to the airport check in desk.

You may do as you wish - but we have data indicating a less than 80% success rate with the "hang on your door" junk. 100% success with Concierge printed boarding passes. 12 years, two trips per year.

We have also had issues on more than one occasion with the tags that they hang on the door not working at the airport. If I can't get my boarding pass via the app (sometimes the Southwest app doesn't allow me to get my pass) I just print the pass out at the airport using the kiosks. On level 3 before you get to the main atrium area where security is there are many mulit-airline kiosks. I have never had to wait to use one, you just select your airline from the main screen, enter confirmation number, and off you go!

If I had a nickle for everyone who thinks an employee is rude because they don't the answer they want I could own 1000 more vacation club points.

There are times that RAC can't check you in, it isn't their fault and they are not told why they are just not able to do it. It has happened to me twice and my sister once. Instead of arguing with them accept it and move on. Just because the Concierge could print your boarding passes doesn't mean anything because you weren't checking your bags with concierge and that is the issue.

I know that employee was rude I didn't think it. It's unacceptable bottom line. If you're willing to accept substandard treatment that's up to you. I'm not, and won't. Nobody argued with them. What would be the point, you go to someone above them. When you determine who's responsible you express your concerns. I'm not ok with the lack of courtesy and professionalism. I expect good customer service when dealing with someone especially on Disney property. I deal with people everyday I understand how frustrating it can be from a much different perspective. If I complain, it's not on a whim.

We learned that the tags on the door are not really boarding passes. At least that is what they told us when we checked our luggage. At the luggage check in, they used the pass on the door only to locate our information. Then they printed out the boarding passes and luggage tags for our flight. I am not sure if this would be necessary if we had no luggage.

I have absolutely used the tags from the door as boarding passes before, it has just been in the last year that we have had some issues with them working intermittently, especially with pre-check access, so we print at the airport kiosks.

We were just at AKV Kidani and had no problem with the boarding passes printed at the front desk.

That has been my experience, they print new ones at the RAC desk. Never had a problem.
