I think I am able to print our boarding passes for our E tickets from home. Can I do this 24 or 12 hours before our flight? If it's 12, then I don't know if I'll be able to b/c we're staying at a hotel at the airport the night before our early am flight. I was planning to leave our house by 6pm. Our flight is at 6:50am. Do you think the hotel will let us print our boarding passes from there? Can I print them at the airport? I have not flown since 6/01 (before 9/11) and I just don't want to have to be at the airport 90 minutes early. We are the first flight of the day and like I said, it is at 6:50am. Any suggestions?

I guess we could always leave for the hotel at 7pm right after I print the passes........but I'd like to know if there is another option. Thank you!

I would call your airline, I am sure they can provide the answers to these questions.
As to the hotel printing them, you would need to ask the hotel.
And, I would be there at the time they suggest, IE: 60 minutes early, as you still have to go through security, and that can take a LONG time.

Your post doesn't say what airline you are flying. Some airlines only allow you to use online check in if you are NOT checking luggage. Others have a special line for those who have already checked in online to check luggage.

Also almost every major carrier has eticket kiosks that can be used to check in and get boarding passes. It is quick and painless.

Many hotels have a business center that is free to hotel guests. Call the hotel directly and ask.

If you let people know what airport and airline you are flying someone could possibly help you more with specifics.

I think it depends on the airline. NWA is something weird, like 30 hours. I think Delta might be 30, if not it's 24 hours.

With NWA, you can print your boarding pass from home, whether checking luggage or not. They have a special line for you to just hand over your checked luggage.

Delta, you can only print from home if you have carry-on only. But they have kiosks where you can print your boarding passes. Took all of 5 minutes for me at MCO on a very busy Sunday.

Check your airline's website as it will have info on printing from home.

USAirways allows you to check in 24 hours in advance. When you get to the airport then you would have to check your bags.

You could also use the kiosk to check in. If at a hotel you would need a computer with internet access and if you are using their computer there is probably a charge for that.

Just check the web site of the airline you are flying and I am sure they will give you the details you need.

Most Hilton branded hotels have a free business center. These include Hilton, Double Tree, Homewood Suites, Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, and Embassy Suites.

OK - here are some more specifics:

1. We are flying USAirways out of Philadelphia International.

2. We are staying at the Philadelphia airport Sheraton.

3. We will be checking baggage.

4. There are seven of us travelling together.

How do the kiosks work? Are they all over the airport, at the luggage check area? How do they work?

Thanks again for any help you can offer!!!!!!!

Get in the fastlane
Get in the fast lane and check in for flights in as little as 30 seconds with US Airways' Self-Service Check-In kiosks, located at ticket counters in airports nationwide. Customers with electronic tickets for travel within the U.S. and between the U.S. and San Juan, St. Thomas and St. Croix can use any kiosk to check in within four hours of a flight. One-way, same-day tickets can also be purchased at the kiosk.

Currently, passengers on international flights, children traveling as unaccompanied minors, groups of 10 or more, and customers requesting special meals or wheelchairs cannot use Self-Service Check-In.

Using Self-Service Check-In

Simply touch the screen to start and follow the displayed directions.

Check In

Insert and remove a Dividend Miles membership card, United Mileage Plus membership card or major credit card for identification purposes only (credit card will not be charged)

Confirm flight information

If more than one passenger name is in the reservation, the passengers can check in together or separately.

Select a seat from a seat map or confirm existing seat assignment

Collect boarding pass and optional receipt for current flight plus all connecting flights on US Airways

If checking bags, present them along with a photo ID to the US Airways Self-Service Check-In agent

Proceed to the gate (no additional check-in is required)

scanne - looks like we are heading down around the same time. We are leaving from USAir PHL on 8/10 and coming back on 8/16. You? We're staying at POR. This will be my first time with the e-ticket business. I think we get to do seat assignments too when we print the boarding pass. Maybe i'll finally get decent seats on the plane lol.

It will only show you those seats that are available. You can search in a different part of the plane but it still won't show you all the seats because the gate agents still control some of them.

What if you were given a seat assignment when you made the reservation? Our ressies have the seat assignments. Since we're a party of 6, we wanted to be together, especially since we have a one year old travelling with us. Should these be ok when we use the kiosk?

Most times you don't have any problems with the seat assignments. It will show on the screen your seats that were assigned to you. If you want to change them at this point you can.

You can webcheck-in on US Airways up to 24 hours in advance. One note, PLEASE call USAir NOW to verify your seat assignments. They are NOTORIOUS for changing seat assignments at will. It has happened to me almost EVERYTIME I've flown them for the past 2 years. If you wait until you get to the airport, and are faced with a full filght, you're stuck. Especially since you're dealing with 6 people. I've been scattered through out the plane with a party of 4 (me Dh, DD 3, and DS 4months, we bought him a seat MUCH safer!) We were all a minimum of 3 rows apart!!! It took MUCH complaining and holding up boarding (Pre SEpt11) to get us at least 1 parent to 1 child. I booked these seats DIRECTLY through US Airways, since I get miles using their website. As I was told by US Airways after I complained upon returning home, "Seat assignments are requests only and can be changed without notice." I now reconfirm my seats with US Airways approx every 2 weeks leading up to flight time after booking, and approx once per week once we're within 60 days of flight.

Your seat assignment will not change because you are using the kiosk. if you use the kiosk and have a problem you can always go to the kiosk agent for help. Standing in the LONG line has no bearing on whether you can change seats.
