printer problems!!! Please help!!!

I have a Cannon bubble jet printer (4300) and everytime I turn the printer on to get ready to print something....it just starts on its own shooting paper through like it's printing but nothing.......even before I put my stuff into print...then it will print a little stuff....

About 3 of the above on each page.........and nothing is in my printer showing what is printing........and it seems like it will not stop!! It did it for about 15 minutes straight til I just shut the printer off. Plus everything goes REALLY slow while the printer is "doing it's own thing"

Anybody know what the problem could be????

I'm assuming you already re-booted the PC and also un-plugged the printer from the wall and then plugged it back in and tried it again.

If the above did not work, unplug the data cable from the printer and then turn it back on with the cable still removed.

Let us know what happens from that.

Well, I tried all you said.......and it is still doing the same thing. I installed the norton anti virus thingy and since then my computer has been really weird. Since it said when it prints by itself.....scanning C:\*.* Do you think that has anything to do with the anti virus program??? Theres another problem with that too.........I can't uninstall it.......I tried every way and it won't uninstall.

Do you think I should uninstall the printer and then reinstall it????

From what you said, I have to guess that the printer was still printing with the cable removed.

If it is printing anything while it is disconnected from the computer, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that there is something wrong with the printer itself. I'm not directly familiar with that model, but that generaly means something is wrong with the hardware on any printer when that happens.

Is that what it is doing?

I did disconnect that cable from the printer and it doesn't print......maybe I should uninstall and reinstall it???

Yes, delete and re-install it (preferably with current drivers from the Canon site).
